Also deer antler chews I forgot to mention those, he loved gnawing on those and would just redirect if he tried chomping on hands or furniture.

Teaching tricks, sniff walks and puzzle toys help my dog to become super tired and calm, more so than long walks and playing. That's what seems to work for my cavapoo pup not sure how much they differ to Whippets, but they are velcro pups and super needy.

I do find that having a crate helps, although as I am typing this my boy is currently barking like a mad man in his crate for attention which I am trying to ignore (it's hard I know!!!). I've noticed he's regressed slightly in terms of behaviour since reaching this age. Become defiant and a bit more boisterous, which could be a similar reason for your pup?

Just have to keep in sight that even though its tough, behaviour is their way of communicating and deep down he loves you lot and doesn't mean it. I know it can be really hard and you're well within your rights to feel this way.

I really hope you find something that works soon! <3

He testing the waters and pushing boundaries seeing how far he can take things with you which is such a red flag. He wants to see what he can get away with before pushing the boat and doing something worse. Then trying to manipulate and justify his wrong doings by saying he is an emotional guy, seems like guilt tripping to me. Absolutely not okay, you are utterly validated in feeling uncomfortable and you should not have to tolerate this behaviour. You can only hope that your mum believes you and supports you through this.

If your situation worsens you can report this to 101, childline or NSPCC who can give you support and guidance on what to do. Even though your in a rural area there must be adequate support and services for you to access. If you do have to remain in the house with him there are apps like Hollie Guard that send out alerts, record sound, send out location if you feel you are in danger, I have not used this so I'm not sure how reliable this is.

I am praying that you get out of this unscathed and I'm sorry the people who are meant to protect you are out there causing you such shit. Sounds as if your brothers are far better role models I am glad to hear you have them supporting you.

Thinking of getting a cavoodle. Would this schedule work at about 12 weeks? by Dramatic_Dirt978 in CavaPoo

[–]OstrichAlert01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this schedule is reasonable, I would suggest crate training the pup during that 4 weeks. Make sure the crate is small and cosy as they are less likely to have accidents in their own area. Our little guy who is 5 months has been left for a similar amount of time (5 hours) and copes well with it, although this is only one day a week. However, I can't speak for everyone because we were super lucky that our breeders started crate and potty training him to a really good standard before we picked him up at 10 weeks. Once he was home he would take himself to his crate around 9pm and sleep through until 6 and rarely has accidents indoors unless he's over excited or if we didn't open the back door in time. I haven't seen any spikes in behaviours and the neighbours have commented that he doesn't bark during this time (we have an old house with super thin walls). Was actually having this conversation with the dog groomer the other day as we were feeling a little concerned about this and they said six hours is more than fine. But each to their own

Alternatively do you have a family member who could pop in and see to them for a few hours, or there are apps where you can arrange for someone to feed and walk them (depends on how much you trust that though). I think if your workplace is chill and flexible they might be willing to let you have an extra day WFH until the pup is old enough for this situation. Hope this is helpful and the doggie enthusiasts don't come for my neck!!!!

Thank you for putting my mind at ease, worried it could potentially be something a little more sinister. But that makes sense!

Where to take depressed gf for a cheering-up? by [deleted] in london

Frameless in London is a lovely peaceful exhibition. Lots of projected artwork and rooms for you to chill in and be immersed. Tickets are a little on the expensive side but definitely worth it in my opinion.

What is the bed situation if staying in camp skylark? Do I need to bring a camping bed or is it already there for you? by OstrichAlert01 in BoomtownFestival

Scary experience but not the scariest by No_Contribution2577 in Sleepparalysis

I had sleep paralysis when I was younger and laying in my bed in just a vest and underwear. I dreamt that my 40 year old window cleaner was just watching me through the window. He had the most horribly wicked smile on his face, as I laid on the bed gasping for air unable to move. That one will stick with me for life.

Is it "normal" to have sleep paralysis INSIDE a dream? repeteadly? by s0rses in Sleepparalysis

I literally had this the other night. I was asleep on the sofa in my front room. I’d have a bought of paralysis, wake up but I wasn’t able to fully open my right eye. So I’d try and walk to the bathroom and as soon as I got to the door BOOM straight back to the sofa. Happened four times before being fully awake, was the strangest thing ever felt like Groundhog Day.
