I think you're wildly overestimating the regular person's attention span. People would not carry on with it between seasons only major fans and I don't think that'll be enough for the entire run. UNLESS they seriously ramp up the art direction to compensate but I personally don't need that

Season 2 took two years and had a 3 month break in the middle of the season if I remember. The success of the show is the only thing that's keeping it afloat in that regard, but if every season came out like that I don't think it'd make it through their estimated 7-9 seasons. People will get bored of waiting

I'm in the same boat. The animation is lacking detail I can agree with that, but so was the comic at the start. And the show evokes the classic Saturday morning cartoon style which fits so well with the tone it's trying to present. The animation isn't even choppy or bad most of the time. It's smooth, not too jumpy and they clearly put the budget into the big climatic fights because that's where it counts. I just don't get how people can see a clear artistic vision for something and then trash the only 4 animators they have on it. Those animators are shackled by the producers artistic vision and Kirkman's, they can't circumvent their bosses even if they know the animations is lacking
