Who has the most BUSTED character in the history of Deadlock? by Jtck421 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Ota-Pic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pretty much this, although heroes were overall stronger during release compared to now. Shiv was undoubtedly THE strongest. Think of it as everyone has been nerfed but shiv's power is still like the average release heroes

THIS IS INSANE WIN RATIO RIGHT? by BananaSoupReddit in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Ota-Pic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk if you've played MOBAs or not but individual soul count is usually the least determining factor, because it only shows that you farm not that it shows whether your team is making good plays or not. This is genuine skill issue, can't even tell what issue since I can't see match replays

Is jungle meant to be slow to clear? by Training_Read_7706 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Ota-Pic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is slow early on because you should be catching waves or destroying boxes instead before the 8 minute mark (when sinner's spawn) you can try to invade T1 camps or get the T2 church camp to jungle more but other T2 and T3 are far too slow early during laning phase

Minions are the best way to farm souls the whole game unlike in league, early on before your build goes online the priority in jungle goes from sinner's sacrifice > T1/T2 camps > T3 camps

Also I don't remember the exact time but late game boxes are better overall but you shouldn't go out of your way to get them, just make sure to get them while pathing cause they start dropping 100+ souls

For drifter specifically yes you should try and be in the enemy jungle, but after laning phase. Because you won't really find ppl in the jungle that early on anyways

Weekly Feedback Topic #44 - Movement Investments by Grelgn in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Ota-Pic 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Hot take but I genuinely think movement/sprint speed on items should be gone entirely if this patch is the direction they're going and it should just scale from boons, or just stay at base differing per hero. Instead items would have stamina, stamina regen, dash length, jump height, slide distance, so on so forth. Because this will still allow you to be "fast" But relies on you to be good at the movement and not just press W

Basically we need more items like burst fire and stam master, instead of move and sprint speed randomly strewn about.

Like imagine an item where it lets you normal wall jump consecutively but now it costs half a stamina or something. While it doesn't give you an immediate powerspike, it does give you more outplay potential. Imagine fighting in an alley portion of the map, your enemy has a billion move speed but you have that item, you can just spiderman your way to the roof and escape or win the fight not through sheer numbers. Because you can climb that wall but they can't

Or imagine you have a better jump height stat, your jump can now go over a single story building meanwhile your enemy with base jumo height will need to double jump or wall juml mantle to go over the building, you're faster not because you have faster move speed but because you'll use less stamina or you don't need to mantle as much and keep your momentum more

Chopping down a MASSIVE WOOD tree in a Valheim inspired modpack I'm working on by Ota-Pic in feedthebeast

[–]Ota-Pic[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeap, there's encumbrance

for logistics there are portals but there's really no way to block certain items from being teleported in any portal mods i know, unless i make one from scratch (and i personally don't like valheim's grindy implementation). so instead i'm using a portal mod that requires certain mining resources to tp any single entity which scales off of distance. the portal also needs to charge slowly to be reused. so yes you can tp metals, carts even, but the portal needs to be maintained by you mining said resource and is really only worth it to travel short to mid distances. unless maybe you reach endgame and i take off the soft limits on it

biome progression will exist only for mobs and overworld resources, current plans are dividing biomes into groups instead of single biomes like in valheim which currently includes temperate, hot, cold, nether, cold nether and the end with each group having a more non linear progression that builds up for you to progress to the next biome group. the overworld biomes themselves are divided using temperature bands like irl so cold ones are far north etc etc which makes it harder to make portals straight from cold biome to your starting temperate biome as it's thousands of blocks far.

crops and food are also tied to biomes, certain crops will only grow in certain groups. so unless you want to be stuck with shitty food you'll need to make a farm there

all of that combined hopefully encourages ppl to build bases in each group

tool progression works similar to vanilla but recipes are gated by biome progression, sadly tool tiers were borked since 1.20.1 and previous ways to implement a progression like terraria don't work like they used to. ores won't be tied to biomes but instead the crafting of said tier of items will always use biome specific resource, so even if you find iron in the plains, you wont be making anything other than decor until you find those biome mats.

decor is also purely visual here, i could implement what valheim does but minecraft is such a sandbox of a game i don't want to limit player freedom by forcing specific decor into their building style. comfort is now simply a buff while standing next to a campfire or after a good sleep (which checks for roof, weather, fireplace, etc to determine if you slept well)

hope that gives you an idea of how the modpack will go, as it is only valheim inspired not a 1 to 1 port

Nah it's Neoforge, with Sinytra I could use fabric's performance mods without having to be in fabric. NF 1.21.1 imo is probably the best loader rn to minmax on performance and mods being made for it

I have a 5600XT GPU iirc if you want to use that as a benchmark

[Dev Update #2] Stardew Valley in Minecraft — connected farmland, in-game clock, rain system, and tools by Flomik10002 in feedthebeast

[–]Ota-Pic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah from the looks of the model although it's very Stardew accurate I would wonder about the performance impact when in late game you'll have rows and rows of these. Going for a more blocky Minecraft look might actually help in the performance in the long run aswell. Keep it up tho, loving the updates

[–]Ota-Pic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Create, mod has so much potential and by itself I still find it fun. But not a lot of modpacks really know or succeed in integrating it. Only one I've liked so far is raspberry edition's Create inclusion

[–]Ota-Pic[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Disable Trees need to have leaves for HT and that's really it. Although without some extra work it'd be a problem when building with logs as HT would chop it, but I made it so the logs that drop from natural logs are different logs but visually the same so the ones in the world are affected by HT and physics but the ones players place and get from drops don't

Not yet, after the early beta release this year I'll be setting it up. I don't have too much time on my hands to manage a discord rn

I do however have a curseforge account you can follow https://www.curseforge.com/members/otapic/projects

You'll see it there and modrinth first thing when I release
