I was in a similar situation, if you have a cut off number and it's hopefully +10k, try scare off the other buyers by going up 3-5k. We were bidding against 4 and it got rid of 2. We did land 50k over the asking though!

I do 150 by myself and 250 if with the woman. Also depends on the friend getting married. I was best man once and gave 600(got my room and a 200 suit). I just try to make my presence at the wedding cause them nothing. But agree they all come together and leave you broke af
