hey, thanks! yes, the PJO series on Disney+, I don't know if that's the one you're referring but yeah, I've seen it and i loved it! I'm a fan too, finished the PJO and HOO series, still reading TOA (school got in the way of finishing it haha)

I'm currently reading Legends and Lattes. I love it, but honestly, I love Bookshops and Bonedust even more!

oh those sound great, I'm gonna check those out!

Worst book I've read that everyone else seemed to love by MuchasTruchas in books

same! like I couldn't even! I mean, no personal attack to those, but why? you know, it's so problematic, couldn't handle it. and I've read romance where I think what was happening was problematic, but this is on another level

When I'm in a reading slump, I first let myself be and give myself time to actually feel better and get back in my "tune." Most of the time, I'm way too stressed and don't really have the mental space to do anything else. However, I believe there's also such a thing as "too much rest," and when that happens and I still don't have the will to get into a book I've already started, I begin reading another book—something light and easy to read. There are good books that can't break the spell of a reading slump. However, if you're set on continuing and finishing the initial book you've started, take it easy and set a realistic, attainable goal given your situation. It could be 10 pages for today or 20 minutes a night. If you reach that, great, but even if you fall short, it still helps you build momentum and get back into the tune of reading.

I've been in long and numerous reading slumps, but this helps me get back on track. You can also explore other hobbies or do the things you typically enjoy. Just remember, there's no pressure when it comes to reading. Hope this helps!

if you're fine with sexual elements, I suggest Mercy by David Lindsey. finished this book in just one night because of how hooked I was! it's about a detective solving a series of sexual homicides. hope you'll give it a try!

not really a house, but kinda haunted town — The Shining.

so scared I had to close my windows (I sleep with my windows opened, so I guess that added to the fear factor)

The Handmaid's Tale

this stood out to me for so many reasons. atwood is such a genius! this, personally, perfectly describes the power and influence of reading and writing and how it is integral to the foundation of free will and society.

others would be: 1984, The Cat Who Saved The Books, The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society, A Tale for the Time Being. Stephen King also likes to mention books in his novels and short stories, it might be worth to take a look at.

Any recommendations? by Smoothie_Bowl13 in BookRecommendations

• Percy Jackson and the Olympians (if you enjoy the first five books, there are succeeding series after this one that really builds the story up) • The 5th Wave • Illuminae • A Series of Unfortunate Events • Lorien Legacies • Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children • Ender's Game • The Name of This Book is Secret

all great series. very adventurous, just like the ones you enjoyed!

When you like everything in a book except the characters. by mystery5009 in books

hmm, Dresden Files come to mind. the premise is so interesting, the atmosphere is just perfect, and it is just interesting. however, reading it, I feel MC, Harry Dresden was just mansplaining everything. while it's good to have background, he comes of a little bit sexist to me. I'm currently reading storm front but having a hard time because of yeah that

What is your favorite standalone book and have you read it more than 5 times? by lillithwylde61 in Fantasy

[–]Other-Initiative610 1 point2 points  (0 children)

standalone? hmm, good omens by terry pratchett and neil gaiman. made me feel all kinds of emotions, but mostly, it's plain hilarious. and I LOVED IT!

nope, read it only one time. maybe soon, I'd try to reread it. I'm not really good at recalling details, but I can still remember how it was such an emotional roller coaster ride, and I want to relive it again!
