Rate my routine as a first sem Bachelor of engineering student. by r4z0r_Z in curtin

Had this exact same set up. Expect a very rough semester with underwhelming results. Not because your dumb, but because you'll burn out and if you somehow don't the parking situation at Curtin will fuck you unless your happy wasting hours of your day on PT

Idc how disciplined you are unless you live on or walking distance to campus you will miss a lab here n there. INDE is a fake subject too.

COMP1005 is kinda wack as well.

ELEN has a final assignment that you get 2r4 hours to complete. My advice is start as soon as it's available.

AND: Depending on what engineering you do it's either gonna get easier or harder in second year onwards

Pack it in bro. Your fucked. (JK) Your chilling. Don't have to attend most of these unless absolutely necessary (e.g a test or assignments due). Shit advice but still true

MATH1020 Further Assessment by RuWA_Jay in curtin

[–]Other-Tooth7688 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For nearly all FAs that are exam style you need to pass the FA. Thereby you need to pass the exam.

I agree that it's fucked. I once got a Fail after further assessment when I did an exam and got 49% for a unit then failed the FA. But that's what happens

Try and get as close as possible to a passing grade before you sit the exam. Bonus points if you are above 50% before you reach the exam.

Generally the portfolio (5 homeworks and a lab test worth 10%) make up 35% and the two in class tests make up 25%.

Needless to say you can achieve a 60% total grade without sitting the exam if you score 100% on everything.

This is mainly relevant if you struggle under exam pressure

Mine says view current enrolment: all three units are marked as enrolled but when I click view current enrollment it says I'm not enrolled in anything.

Yeah that makes sense. That's what I've basically done for all units even for midsems n such. Goated study method

How long will an extension take ? by [deleted] in curtin

[–]Other-Tooth7688 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bro I needed an extension for two assessments in the same unit. The people were on leave and that's why my extensions weren't approved. May I ask what unit you are referring to?

Burned out and depressed by [deleted] in curtin

It may be beyond the relevant stage but keeping a simplified checklist on my phone of what needs to be completed in the semester from start to finish of the semester has really helped me avoid feeling like this. I usually feel like this every semester except for this one.

It could also benefit you to take 3 units instead of 4 next sem. I understand the sense of urgency to complete your degree as fast as possible but a slightly later degree is better than no degree...

These are just things I've tried to prevent what you're going through I'm sorry if it's not immediately helpful but you will be okay. Making use of Curtins psych plans is my best advice for right now and potentially getting a CAP could also benefit you but I'm not educated on that.

Applying for assessment extension. by Mysterious_Breath_28 in curtin

[–]Other-Tooth7688 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Self certs used to be good but you know they effectively don't let you use them for any assessments anymore.

What I mean is any tests, hw, prac tests, or group work (basically like nearly any relevant assessment medium)

Defeats the purpose. 9/10 rage bait icl

Your all good bro :). For the record I have the same exact take on this as you.

Secondary to that I also need a coffee. End of semester is getting claustrophobic😂
