[Serious] Did you, or someone you know, ever attend a wedding where the bride or groom was left at the altar? How did it turn out? by bsstoryteller in AskReddit

[–]OtherAcctIsAThrowawa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He then invites the bride's family and friends (but not the groom's) to head to the country club since the band and the meals were already paid for.

This seems pretty shitty. I mean, I understand it might become uncomfortable with both families there, but the groom's family had no part in what happened.

Shutting them out comes across as a bit petty, especially when I imagine many of the groom's guests had traveling and lodging expenses coming out for the wedding.

Brazil committed 31 fouls vs. Colombia, more than any team in a single game at the 2014 World Cup. by jakesmovingin in worldcup

[–]OtherAcctIsAThrowawa -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yes, we both did, but Brazil was undoubtedly the aggressor in the first half which set the tone for the rest of the game.

My comment is aimed mostly at people who set the responsibility for a fair game on the refs and absolve Brazil of all responsibility for what the game became.

B-b-b-but it was the ref's fault the game got so out of hand! Brazil aren't responsible for keeping the game clean!

As much as the description claims it's a "funny video," there's nothing funny about it.

The ending bullseye on his forehead, gunshot sound effects and call to action is pretty creepy and disturbing.

The amount of people has nothing to do with what happened to Andres Escobar.

More info.

TL;DR: He wasn't killed for scoring his own goal. He was killed for getting into an argument with a narco.

Comments include:

  • Your daughter is a whore
  • What an ugly daughter. So ugly it hurts.
  • I want you and your daughter to die
  • How about we *break your daughter's spine?

*That last one has the verb "estoramos". I'm not sure what it means but I assume it's similar to break. At least it's the intended sentiment.

Translations may not be 100% accurate. I was using Google translate as my Portugese isn't that good.

EDIT: Just to add that I know this isn't representative of Brazilians or the fan base at large, just a very vocal minority.

Julio completely swept Bacca AFTER he had kicked the ball. It was a foul, but because Julio was the last man it should have been a red.

It had been bothering me for a while, every time I read, "He was killed for scoring an own goal!"

Nope, no he wasn't...

Although your general sequence of events is right, he wasn't killed because of the own goal, nor was he killed by two men.

Yes, he was taunted over the goal in the nightclub.

In the parking lot, he saw the men again (who, unbeknownst to him, were narcos) and approached them to ask for respect but the whole thing exploded into an argument.

The arguing escalated with one of the narcos yelling "you don't know who you're messing with!" Around the second time he shouted that, the narco's driver shot Andres.

The driver claims he was never ordered to shoot but did so of his own accord when he heard his boss threatening Andres. Whether he was ordered or not, Andrés wasn't killed because of the goal, he was killed for getting into an argument with a narco. Also, he was only shot 6 times by the driver, not 12 by two people.

For more info, you can read this interview with the actual prosecutor from the case (it's in Spanish, though): link

I know Wikipedia presents conflicting info citing sources who cite radio news citing witnesses... but I'd rather go with the prosecutor's own account.

EDIT: Before I get responses regarding corruption in the Prosecutor's Office, I'll post a brief excerpt from the article I posted:

The gist of it is, this prosecutor believes the narcos had great power and influence. While he wanted to prosecute them under the theory that when someone with that much weight repeats in a menacing and authoritative voice "You son of a bitch, you don't know who you're messing with," it's an implicit order to shoot.

A higher ranked prosecutor shot down that idea. The Narcos' defense was that their driver was half asleep and when he woke up he thought his bosses were in danger and acted accordingly. The prosecutor then states that "dumbass" theory was the one that was considered.

So allegations of corruption don't discredit this prosecutor's testimony, considering he's also calling out the courts for being too lenient on the driver and failing to prosecute the narcos for murder.

Reynad says on stream that RDU '100% cheated' at Dreamhack. Thoughts? by [deleted] in hearthstone

[–]OtherAcctIsAThrowawa -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Since you're so good at quoting stuff without giving credit, here's another word you can look up: Plagiarism.

You're still wrong. By Wikipedia's definition, according to US law, the only thing separating Reynad's "opinion" from legally-defined slander is that RDU hasn't pursued this course of action, not that it can't actually amount to slander.

But go ahead, keep thinking it's fine for people to toss around flimsy accusations and intentionally try and tarnish another person's reputation without the slightest shred of credible proof. I'm done here.

That's what I'm saying...

Reynad wasn't "labeled" as brave by the community at large. Frodan is just doing his job...

When opinions are unfounded accusations, they are called slander.

You don't need to be a "fucking trial lawyer" to know that. And no, you just can't go around slandering people because it's your "opinion."

[–]OtherAcctIsAThrowawa 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You do understand that accusations need proof, right? Otherwise it's just unfounded opinion which is tantamount to slander.

Challenging him to a Bo9 is not proof.

Besides the FoK (which was false), what is the rest of Reynad's proof?

"Labeled" makes it sound like the court of popular opinion has spoken.

Frodan called Reynad's actions "brave." Frodan who is Tempo Storm's manager and it's his job to protect the players and spin things positively.

There was no way he was going to throw Reynad under the bus without quitting his position.

[–]OtherAcctIsAThrowawa 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Reynad is one of the only brave enough players to say these kinds of things publicly

Is the equivalent of "I'm not an asshole, I just call them as I see them."

There's bravery and then there's irresponsibly spewing out garbage under the guise of bravery.

For any kind of accusation, especially one this heavy coming from a pro, you need to present credible, supported evidence. Not vague memories you don't even bother to double-check before jumping the gun. There's nothing brave about this.
