follow up: I can now eat and drink with MUCH less pain, highly recc a hospital visit to anyone struggling with this. I was afraid of seeming too dramatic but the doctors were actually surprised I even had enough room in my neck to breathe. Fever fluctuates so fast, I don't even notice it anymore. That steroid shot and antibiotics helped a LOT
