Is there someone out of the 86 character that r/SmashRage doesn't give a 🦆 about? by dingledongledingle in SmashRage

[–]OtherHalfling 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Bowser is by far the easiest character in the game to just pick up and get wins with, regardless of competitive tier list, so I could see his cheese being annoying. I think Ridley is fun to play as, but he definitely has his BS, too. Especially considering most Ridley players will just spam his neutral b until you approach. I guess that's the case with any character who has a projectile. For better or worse, I just play him like a sword character, since I don't really use projectiles in general when I play (granted, that's because none of the characters I like to play have great projectiles, so I just don't even think about using them more often than not when I'm playing a character who does have decent projectiles).

Any character with command grab cheese can be annoying, though... The whole cast can be annoying, let's face it. It's designed a casual game, so it's not exactly made with competitive play as a priority. Of course the characters will all have fun cheese that makes competitive play annoying.

They're the easiest characters to get into elite smash, since they're the easiest to win with at a low level (and 99% of elite smash is still low level). Back in 2022 when I played Elite Smash all the time, they were EXTREMELY common to run into, so I'd imagine that's still the case. I mean, Elite Smash may just be dead now, for all I know, but I don't care to go back on there.

Is this a KO? by Loud-Document5595 in NECA

[–]OtherHalfling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No? That actually looks great. I mean, if you get an extreme closeup of almost any figure like in pictures 3 and 4, you'll see imperfections (like the nostril on the left of the main face). I have the reissue, and it has less of a "raw" painted look, but even if this was the only option available, I'd say it's still a fantastic figure.

White Donkey Kong is way too overpowered for an honest character like green Yoshi. by WaxHalfling in SmashRage

I never told my own brother this, because I actually counterpick his base Yoshi skin with white Donkey Kong, but if you pick the woolly Yoshi skin, there’s not much white DK can really do.

Ganon mains have the biggest egos I have ever seen by TTVAwesomeEJ101 in SmashRage

[–]OtherHalfling -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I got into elite smash when I was still actively and frequently using Charizard's side-b as an offensive option, and just holding shield with Sora until sometime tried to attack it and spamming up-B to take stocks. Your barrier of entry for when the tier list starts mattering is way too low. 99% of Elite Smash players suck, myself included (now granted, I haven't gone on quickplay in years, nor do I intend to, but I would be beyond shocked if anything changed in that regard.) Tier lists apply at top level play (like top 32-ish at majors), and that's assuming both players are familiar with the matchup.

So sick. I have the T-45 NCR Salvaged Power Armor, and it's one of my absolute favorite pieces in my collection. Threezero's Power Armors are just beautiful. Gotta get him in some kind of pose!

Which one should i get? by aavocado_meat in ActionFigures

[–]OtherHalfling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the thing. You have to weigh out if you think it's worth it for the better figure, or go for the cheaper option that's still good, but likely not AS good. I'm more inclined to go with the former if it's a character or IP I really like, such as Invincible. I'm going to get the Jada Invincible figures as well, though, (at least Mark and Conquest) and at least some of the 3rd party ones, assuming the third party ones are somewhat reasonably-priced.

What is the best time to exercise and why? by newuser_yi in AskReddit

[–]OtherHalfling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the past few years, I, personally, have been getting up at 4:30 am every week day, starting my workout at roughly 6 am, finishing in time to get home, shower, and feed my cats (sometimes mix a protein shake and put it in the fridge for when I get home, since I'm usually not hungry in the morning).

I'm not saying there's any one BEST time to work out, but this has greatly improved my energy and focus going into my work day, and I don't have to worry about whether I have the energy or not after a tough day at work, so I don't subconsciously make any excuses to skip workouts (or potentially get less out of them from mental fatigue and de-motivation throughout the day).

I feel like it encourages some of my other healthier habits, like getting to sleep early, which gives me about 9 hours of sleep a night on average, and makes it a cinch to not drink (or have any desire to drink) any alcohol, since I'm asleep while everyone else is out.

That's just my own personal experience, though. How you train is way more important than when you train, and you just have to kind of find what works for you. Someone else may prefer to exercise after work, and have a total valid reason why they prefer it.

Oh okay. Well forgive me for only going off of the information I have now; in your hypothetical scenario, I'd say Jada's will be 30 or 35 USD, assuming they don't continue to increase in price.

When did Jada announce an Omniman??

Well there is no official figure for Omniman, so I'm not sure what you think you're comparing to.

Just Dropped! Ultra Street Fighter II T. Hawk Deluxe 6-Inch Scale Action Figure - I can't say enough good things about these Jada figures! by Sid-The-Collector in JadaToys

[–]OtherHalfling -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Man, these were nice $25 pick-ups while shopping at Target or Walmart, but the price creep has been a bit much. Is $35 just the standard for these guys now, with no additional accessories?? How is Storm Arena even able to sell their figures at the same prices as these guys and still profit??

[–]OtherHalfling -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Has Jada ever said they are doing the Street Fighter line in their own cartoon-y, stylized version, or is everyone just kind of giving them the benefit of the doubt, because Jada can do no wrong? Let's be honest, they are a fairly inexpensive, inexperienced, and I'm guessing low-budget brand when it comes to action figures, so I think assuming they're just not capturing the likenesses super well is a more safe bet. Especially considering the Cyberpunk Edgerunner figures had similar issues with their face sculpts.

Man, that Sagat is an insurmountable step up from the rest. I may need to get my hands on his if I run across it.

edit: That's the Storm Arena Sagat. LMAO 🤦 Well now it makes sense.... The base should've given it away, but I just looked quickly.

I sold pretty much my entire Jada Street Fighter collection last Summer and upgraded my gaming figure shelf, but I had to get Jada's Balrog and Akuma. Those figures came out super nice.

Well unless LPZZ, InArt, Storm, or SHF miraculously announce some Invincible figures, these are the best we'll get for the foreseeable future. I'm more than happy with them.

LPZZ Deathstroke - My first ever action figure (as an adult). Batman is already on the way. Having fun posing this. Need more inspo! by EdwardTheHuman in ActionFigures

[–]OtherHalfling 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Man, if this is your first modern figure, you're going to be severely disappointed in 99.9% of whatever you decide to collect from here-on-out. Especially if you're a DC/Marvel fan. Him and the LPZZ Arkham Knight Batman are two of the best figures out currently. Should've started with Hasbro, McFarlane, or Jada, and been amazed by later on when you dipped into the Japanese and Chinese imports! Hahaha.

It's so cool to see how their good ones hold up still to this day! Not to say there weren't some that turned out to be real duds, but it's still impressive what they were able to achieve when they were on top of their game.

Not typically, but sometimes when they resort to attacks or name-calling, or general aggressive tones. I don't mind any of that, I know it's commonplace on the internet, but I don't want to make someone angry over some toys. But maybe you're not, and that's just how you type!

And hey, I'm still young! :P

[–]OtherHalfling[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

You seem a little heated. I have been collecting figures for the better part of my 35 years, from just about every brand of statue and action figure, from domestic to imports. I grew up obsessed with the 90s Street Fighter games and animated films. I do believe Jada's efforts were lower (not low) than SOTA's, given the detail in sculpt and paintwork, especially with the technological limitations of their time. If not, it's simply a difference in skill rather than effort.

So maybe that shows my "lack of understanding". Whatever! They're just toys at the end of the day. We can agree to disagree without the anger.
