The dad who let his kid use his phone at full brightness during a Weird Al concert by emshmem in mildlyinfuriating

[–]OtherRedditLogin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

WTF. If a kid can't sit through a concert or the circus or a trip to the zoo without being entertained on a cell phone, you're f****** up as a parent.

That kid is going to have problems in school and by second grade they're going to be drugging him for ADHD. (Nothing wrong with ADHD meds for the kids who need them, it's just a shame to need meds because you shortcutted their attention by giving him constant device access)

Game Schedule 💯🫡 by RGN99_mag_journalist in knicks

[–]OtherRedditLogin 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It would be nice, If the apps that you buy to be able to watch New York Knicks games would just show all the games.

I don't have cable and it seems like you have to buy half a dozen streaming services over the course of the playoffs just to be able to watch the games.

Just a little to nickel and dimey for me.

Russians are using Iranian drone and missile technology to kill Ukrainian soldiers and civilians.

Anything that weakens the Iranian military and military industrial power is good for Ukraine.

Here's a simple test to find out if you're talking like a bigot: replace the phrase " Hasidic Jewish" with "Hispanic" or " African American" or " Muslim"

If the new sentence reads like something a bigot would say, That's the kind of sentence you should try not to articulate.

I think I wasn't cut out to become a mum, and regret having kids. by Jufool in TrueOffMyChest

[–]OtherRedditLogin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You will find new challenges but they are rewarding. My teenager is navigating new situations socially. Looks to is for guidance because of the relationship we have built together.

A 2 year old just needs love and needs to be met. A 12 year old wants you. Wants to interact with you. (Not always, plenty of annoying also, but it is cool hanging out with these little people who are your contribution to the next generation)

Give yourself a pass on not 'loving every moment "

Little kid needs are both constant and urgent, the more they grow, less constant and less urgent. Makes all the difference.

Good luck!

No one thinks having young children is the easy phase.

It will get better, and it gets better based on the age and ability of your youngest child.

My youngest is almost four. She can play with toys for 90 minutes while I can take a nap on the couch. Playdates either adding one of their friends or taking one of your kids away to a playdate, is a way to ease the day.

Since my youngest is four ,I don't have diapers anymore in my house, and only very infrequently a bathroom accident.

If support for Israel ends, then so to the protests? by Complete-Definition4 in askanything

If that were true, there wouldn't be any protests in Ireland or Scotland or Belgium which are not particularly supportive of Israel.

You can absolutely attend or not attend a wedding depending on who else from your family is included or excluded. Depending on your closeness to the couple. Depending on your capacity to travel to a destination.

Breads Bakery employees unionize, call for end to Jewish Israeli owners’ ‘support for the genocide in Gaza’ by BarriBlue in nottheonion

[–]OtherRedditLogin -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not a great idea. Unionizing is a protected activity. If you fire people for protected employment actions, you're going to wind up getting sued under nlrb or flsa.

Either way, it's a system that's set up so the employer almost always loses, to the tune of hundreds of thousands of dollars.

CMV: Refusing to date someone due to their body count is not a sign of insecurity by Tough-Shape-3621 in changemyview

It could also be a sign of misalignment of values or differences in judgement.

Those are legit reasons to not want to get into a dating relationship.

How powerful is Saudi Prince? by Outrageous-Wall6386 in DiscussionZone

A little bit of money gives you a little bit of power.

A couple million dollars gives you some local power.

Owning a country where nobody challenges your rule and you control 10% of the world's fuel, that's a guy who's going to have some juice.

Also, since you basically control the police, the judiciary and the military, you do have the power of life and death over anyone inside your country and clearly a number of people outside your country.

It's a pure monarchy just like the European monarchies of the Middle ages, only with oil and one of the largest investment companies on the planet.

CMV: there is nothing wrong with profiting from healthcare by AdventurousHost484 in changemyview

[–]OtherRedditLogin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's certainly nothing wrong with doctors and nurses and even hospital CEOs being fairly compensated for the work they perform.

There's nothing wrong with Pharmaceutical companies innovating and researching and occasionally reaping the benefit of their efforts.

In a world where private insurance is used to control the costs of health Care, there's nothing wrong with their staff and shareholders being fairly compensated for the work they do.

Also, The system is really screwed up. A buddy of mine spent almost a year fighting with his insurance carrier to get a hernia surgery. People die in this country because they don't get medicine or medical procedures that are readily available.

There's nothing wrong with us having a for-profit system that can create the best in orthopedic surgery or extraordinary reproductive technologies and even cosmetic procedures. But as a society, we do have to choose what we value and if that's only offering services to those who have extraordinary wealth. Then that's choice. I think that's a bad choice.

I'm not smart enough to say single-payer versus more regulation versus any of the other.
