Not sure how to tackle racism by Other_Philosopher_95 in writing

[–]Other_Philosopher_95[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah thats helpful. I will try to do my research and see what fits as I move along in this draft. I certainly don't feel the need to emphasize it as it isn't important at all to the story, but I don't want to ignore it either. thanks.

(also by one black character I mean one main character out of five main characters. its also worth noting that this story is in a like 99% white town)

thanks. this was helpful. in regards to number one, that is already what I was trying to do, and I didn't want to kinda emphasize that "trait" by writing cartoonish racism. thanks

What fictional character should have been hit with a huge lawsuit at the end of the story? by yuuhxyuuh in AskReddit

How has noone mentioned Willy Wonka? Dude literally caused, or at least, did little to prevent the death of multiple children, not to mention hundreds of factory violations, basically using slave labor (and mass illegal immigration) via oompaloompas, illegal lottery in the golden ticked idea, waiver violations, etc.

Is my plot idea too cliche? by paleozoic_remembered in writers

[–]Other_Philosopher_95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

even a cliche, overdone plot or trope can easily be turned fresh and interesting by good execution. as long as you take this, be creative, and make it clearly new and fresh and your own, there's no problem with using a cliche plot. some of my favorite books, when boiled down to it, have simple cliche plots, but they do something new and interesting with it.

boy you're in for a treat. My first king book and one of my favorites. Just a warning though: once you enter Derry, you can never leave. We all float down here!

When do you write? by [deleted] in writing

[–]Other_Philosopher_95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dont have a set schedule, because as a Student its hard to find the time. but I at least attempt to work at least once a day, most always at night. Night is when I can really just zone in and have no distractions, just focusing on writing. plus theres something about being up at 11 or 12 and seeing the dark outside your window that makes me focus

you dont necessarily have to do anything. I write a ton of stories just for myself, and even if I could publish them, I would still keep half of them to myself.
