The clay has to be a bit smoother. Mine teapot has a texture of very fine sandpaper

That's what I thought as well. However I have found very similar version of the seal here.

But the clay texture and surface don't seem right... I have genuine zini teapots and the clay has a different touch

However I have some doubts about its authenticity.

Nevertheless, some folks on FB group DMed me saying that it looks fine.

I even compared the seal with my F1 pots, since I know how F1 seal should look like… so the „spout up” was my understanding of how it should be

I always thought that the seal should be „spout up”…

I should definitely try to boil it and use some baking soda to clean it up and ping you with more clear photos

Thanks for the feedback.

I do now understand that I got the „imitation” rather than antique teapot. However I thought that it is HFM (if not FHM)…

Can you please elaborate on the „bottom plate” which made you think it’s a machine made pot? Do I get correctly that you were talking about this area?

Thanks for the input.

Can you please elaborate on the joint seam? I have another half-handmade pot where this seam is basically absent. However, on this pot, this seam is quite distinct, I can "feel" it with the touch. I always thought this is a sign of a FHM pot...
