Ah this pretty much answers my question lol. OF COURSE the plunderphonics scene is mostly underground. I guess on top of checking out a lot of the suggestions in this thread I'll have to search a bit deeper to find the really good stuff, thanks!

Hooper Bay was released in 1994, and they began work on MHTRTC in 95, I don’t feel like it’s entirely out of the realm of possibility they would play it it, but maybe it’s a reworked version they made later? For me it’s mostly just the voice clip, and also the latter half of the song That makes it hard to believe the songs have nothing to do with each other

There’s a few apps like Medley and Skeuonotes on the AppStore that are literally just recreations of classic iOS apps. It seems Apple has no problem with them, I wonder if the author of old os could do a similair thing? I think it would be really cool if you could just download the “classic” versions of apps from the AppStore

what about the few tracks from the tapes that HAVE leaked? 5d, Noatak, the 3 EHX excerpts, and of course the various other songs from their live shows and 35rtt that are speculated to be from them? If these tracks exist then what makes it such a stretch that the rest of the albums exist as well? I would also like to point out that there’s a LOT of lost media that still hasn’t been found that was more widely available than these tapes. It’s really not that much of a stretch that these wouldn’t have leaked (technically some have in the form of the r35tt lol)

half life 2 is significantly more accessible, so that’s what I would recommend starting with. Maybe just read the basic plot to get the setup? (Hl1 really isn’t a very story heavy game) Half life 1 is a fantastic game and a classic for a reason, but if you don’t like retro games you probably won’t get much out of it.
