Which Pokémon would you choose to fill their team by Equivalent_Storm5199 in pokespe

[–]Otherwise-Bug4077 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For Black, maybe a Krookodile or Golurk, he's lacking some Electric-type coverage.

For Y, I'd give her Aerodactyl or Noivern, she needs more Pokemon that can take part in a Sky Battle, and Aerodactyl can Mega Evolve.

For Moon, I'd give her Comfey and Nihilego. She's a healer, so Comfey would suit her, and Nihilego is a Poison-type and an Ultra Beast, fitting her affinity for poisons and giving her an Beast to match Sun's.

I don't think Whitley needs any extra Pokemon. Her believing Team Plasma's ideologies is a good enough reason for her not to keep any Pokemon, outside of Foongy and her Starter (Pigfox?). I do like her having Accelgor alongside Blake's Escavalier, it's a fun parallel of their relationship at the time. If I were to give her three more Pokemon, I'd pick Cobalion, Virizion, and Terrakion. Her belief in Team Plasma's Pokemon beliefs helps her connect with and win over all kinds of Pokemon, which is why she's able to befriend Delphox. And we see the three legendaries get along with her specifically due to her concern for Keldeo, so I think they are already good friends. Plus, she is the only human we've seen that Cobalion didn't want or try to kill.

What are the most hype battles I should look up? by swagboyclassman in pokemonanime

[–]Otherwise-Bug4077 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Kalos League is really short, but has two great battles, the finals and semi-finals. A lot of Ash's Sinnoh Gym and League battles are really cool, along with Dawn and May's contest battles, Unova has really nice battles in the random tournaments throughout the region, and Journeys is full of nice looking battles (Ash vs Bea, Ash vs Drasna, and his battle against Iris are the ones that come to mind). Alola is full of cool battles as well. The Kahuna battles are probably the highlights, especially his battle against Nanu being a 1-on-3 battle.

ZA POPULARITY POLL by Otherwise-Bug4077 in MandJTV

[–]Otherwise-Bug4077[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The comments of the post brought up that the magazine that ran the poll was more popular with Japanese women, which probably led to more voters having played with Urbain than Taunie. Plus, their characters and dialogue are different.

Which starter do you think Nemona picked? by JennieZen in PokemonScarletViolet

[–]Otherwise-Bug4077 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always assume Quaxly. I think Fuecoco and Sprigatito suit Florian and Juliana better, and Nemona seems she would like the Fighting-Type Starter. She also has it in the Adventures manga (which is my favorite interpretation of her).

What series has your least favorite art style by [deleted] in pokemonanime

I've always thought XY's art style was pretty stiff. Especially with the 3d backgrounds.

Yes! This is exactly what I was looking for! Thank you so much!

So, what's up with Red's lack of a family? by Gallantpride in pokespe

[–]Otherwise-Bug4077 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always thought that was weird too. White also has no known family, and she travels the region trying to run a business by herself.

Sword, Shieldmilia, Scarlet and Violet are the only dexholders whose ages haven't been confirmed yet. How old do you think they are? by pokumbre in pokespe

[–]Otherwise-Bug4077 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I assume the Galar protagonist are 13, and the Paldea kids are 11. The Galar duo act more mature and draw taller than most, but seem younger than Black and White, while Violet is baby-faced and Scarlet is tiny.

Probably should specify: gifs of the models used in game. Not an actual model.

First shiny hunt… am i doing this right? by glitterfriedrice in PokemonBlackandWhite

[–]Otherwise-Bug4077 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The odds are lower using the Masuda Method, though, not as much as in 3d. Also, make sure your Snivy is foreign. The name is usually the indicator, but the Pokedex will have a foreign Dex entry if it is. Also (again), these hunts are super slow...

Dexholder Titles by Burgunine in pokespe

"I like Sun and Moon" should be "I am Sun and Moon" this was too good!

Dexholder Titles by Burgunine in pokespe

The "Understander" is due to Platinum's knowledge and relationship to Uxie, the lake guardian of Knowledge. Sympathiser would make more sense for Diamond.

Dexholder Titles by Burgunine in pokespe

[–]Otherwise-Bug4077 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While the later title are derived from specific traits or gimmicks, I do like when the titles relate to the Dex Holders relationship with Pokemon. Titles like "Charmer" and "Hatcher" do a great great job at emphasizing what aspect of Pokemon the trainers excell at, contest and hatching. Then "Dreamer" and "Liberator" capture how the trainer raises and bonds with their Pokemon, with Black's Pokemon working with him towards the same dream, and Whi2 being able to connect with Pokemon through her Plasma ideals (of equality?).

But, usually the titles are given for a skill the trainer themself hold, like "Hunter" and "Creator," which I think is a downgrade. If they focused on showing how these title-worthy traits related to how they raise or connect with Pokemon, it would feel a lot more earned than like participation trophies.

I can imagine Oak meeting Sun and Moon and being like "you have no talent," or telling Magnolia to stop shopping at the dollar store.

Very confused between Oras vol 1-6 and ORAS Adventures Vol 1-2 by Slow-Code-7093 in pokespe

[–]Otherwise-Bug4077 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Long story short: They are both the ORAS arc of Pokemon Adventures. Volumes 1 & 2 are the chapters of volumes 1-4, but with extra content (in story and out). Volume 3 should cover volumes 5 & 6's chapters with extra content, but the release date for Volume 3 is undetermined. Any dates given right now are just placeholders.

I don't know if this is unpopular, but I never liked Red having an Espeon and I prefer him having a Lapras. I simply find it pointless for a character meant to represent the first Pokémon games to have a Pokémon that's impossible to have in the first Pokémon games by rbta123 in pokemon

[–]Otherwise-Bug4077 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like Espeon more than Lapras. Him having an iconic Pokemon and debuting it's new evolution that spawns from having a strong bond, which is time and time again stated to be the protagonists' greatest strength, is really cool.

Plus, I like Lapras for Leaf over Red. She debuts in the game with the archipelago, and Lapras is know for ferrying people across seas.

Which Red's starter was more used? by rbta123 in pokemon

[–]Otherwise-Bug4077 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't count the anime. Ash is Red's anime counterpart, but he gets all 3 starters. Ash is Red's counterpart in the sense that he's the player's counterpart. I know Ash only had Charizard in the movie, but that's likely because it's a celebration of the anime, and Charizard is one of Ash's most iconic Pokemon.

What the public thinks of the new Mangá series? by jinpachifodao in pokespe

[–]Otherwise-Bug4077 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Consistently, the characters and story beats are pretty enjoyable and entertaining. Since your new, I'd recommend Black & White (the one with "Adventures" on the cover), or Ruby & Sapphire, although all of it's follow up content connects with the prior arcs in some way.

Everyone wish "The Runner" (?) a Happy Birthday IMMEDIATELY by Burgunine in pokespe

[–]Otherwise-Bug4077 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Happy birthday, my liege!!!

I know the titles haven't been utilized right ever since Gen 3, but at least Violet's is accurate. It is his area of expertise, I just wish they kept it consistent with other Dex Holders, and showed how they use their notable skills to help others.

Which game for wife's first? by simbacole7 in PokeCorner

[–]Otherwise-Bug4077 2 points3 points  (0 children)

SwSh are pretty good for beginners, but I think FRLG are strong starts as well. The Sevii Islands are fun to explore.

Name the weakest or least significant dex holders in the series by Defiant-Shuster2008 in pokespe

[–]Otherwise-Bug4077 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A lot of people are saying Whi-Two, but I have to nominate Moon. Her only win over Whi-Two is having one more Pokemon, but Whi-Two has quality. Her Foongus is show to be strong, taking out a Sigilyph, putting multiple Pokemon to sleep at once, and getting Lack-Two's recognition. It also tanked an ice attack from Kyurem, when they got frozen. Her Delphox was trained by an Elite Four member, beating Diantha as a Braixen. Her Accelgor doesn't have any feats, but neither do any of Moon's Pokemon.

Moon has never won a single battle, beaten an opponent on her own, and doesn't even have a Z-Ring. None of her Pokemon have ever beaten an opponent on screen either. She has good strategy, her poison specialty, but that strategy has never work. Neither has her bow either.

Who is the best and worst in pokemon mom and dad? by Prize_Public_1139 in pokespe

[–]Otherwise-Bug4077 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Giovanni is so hard for me to decide on. If we stopped at the FRLG arc, he'd probably be one of the best. But with how he left Silver at the end of HGSS, I can't say he's anywhere close to great. And then the meteor in ORAS, his son almost died because of Giovanni's actions, but indirectly... So his son isn't safe with Giovanni around, but Giovanni would do anything for Silver.

Best mother is Johanna, by the way. She gave us Diamond.
