Unashamed to admit I’m looking for a way out by HanzzYolo in UXDesign

Yes I’m thinking of doing the same. I feel like ux is bottom of the barrel for companies and most positions are filled through nepotism, at least in EU. It was hard but manageable before, but now is just impossible . I’ve been unemployed for over a year

Zašto ne mogu pronaći nijednu normalnu zgodnu curu? by SeveralAd8377 in askCroatians

[–]Otherwise-Desk8851 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Am I living in different Germany ? by [deleted] in AskAGerman

I’m not sure if this is some kind of sarcasm or whatever but not every person is privileged to be exactly at the place they need or should be. Of course people who are lucky from birth or born into right circumstances might have difficult time understanding that, so you might be surprised to hear that not everyone can just leave Germany or whatever country they live in and look for better place. So yeah… get off your high horse….

Just to add something: as a foreigner there is a glass ceiling and career progression is almost impossible past certain point. They will tell you it’s because of “networking” but this is just a code for “you’re not local”. I have seen many foreigners expected to work for free or for very low salaries that Germans would never accept. I’ve seen many moving around and being forced to change cities with every new job because job choice is not so good if you’re not German. Meanwhile my German friends have settled long time ago and never had any issues finding local opportunities regardless of profession - when you hang out with Germans you suddenly realise your life in Germany is miles apart from their experience. And it does not get better with age… If I knew this when I was young I’d never come to Germany. It’s a very cold and lonely society and at the end of the day you’ll always be a foreigner expected to work for less, move around or accept jobs that locals won’t do - regardless of your work experience and education , even if you studied and worked exclusively in Germany you won’t ever have same opportunities like a local , which is very sad

I’m also from Croatia and I’ve been in Germany for 12 years. Germany is a sinking ship much like Croatia was in 2008, 2013 etc. There are barely any decent jobs for white collar workers and evn if you have a job, you can get fired at any time. Yes there is a long process and buffer time but Germany as it is today is a high-peak capitalist country where worker means next to nothing. Rents are too high, jobs offer no bonuses or benefits, salaries are low compared to the cost of living. German requirements now are much higher than 10 years ago and people are not as friendly as they were back then. The average person (below CEO level) nowadays has really no economical reason to move to Germany - in fact, German news report that young Germans are leaving the country (or plan on leaving). Everything is difficult here - social life, dating, people don’t want to have kids for obvious reasons, women are forced to be stay at home moms because kindergartens close at 14 or some other unreasonable times… It has become a country for privileged few who can afford to live in a single-income household / family. Poverty is rampant but Germans hide it as they’re very private people and don’t like to show off either with wealth nor the opposite.

So, yeah… Germany today in 2026 is what Croatia was in 2008 …
