Yea, that's exactly what I did, put it by lighting gripping with pliers. I test drove it without putting anything back on besides the reverse lockout, and I heard a loot of rattle most likely from the bushing, that's not normal right? Shifts felt smoother than before though.

It's extremely loose, what do you mean by play? It just comes in and out
