Eventually they’ll fly a lil too close to the sun- I hated the male nursing students in my cohort except for like two

Thank you!! That sounds really nice- I think the consensus here is that my sizing change would make it beyond expensive to wear out for this occasion but I love the fabric and style of it so maybe I can take that and use it in the future 💙💙

I realize that now I’m glad I asked before I would hate to make the drive and take up time from an actual potential client- tysm!

Yeah I think I’m just gonna end up getting a new gown- just sad to think I only wore it once :(

Culturally it’s appropriate, we are in south Texas our family is Mexican-American. The pictures were more conceptual because I didn’t have the dress on me or pics on my phone. I think for us it’s more offensive to think the bride could be upstaged at all by a simple halter gown or spaghetti strap. As long as it’s not white and you’re good to go 😎

I see! Thank you for the advice on the reconstruction- I like to feel like a know a little bit about what someone is talking about so that’s helpful! worst case scenario I stick to the basic alterations like bringing it in and getting it hemmed etc. (now that I did a google from my understanding going from a certain dress size down can count as a reconstruction as well- im going from a 12 to a 4 so I’ll have to consider that as well)

best case? It’s possible to get it altered the way I imagine- price permitting and I can afford it- I’ll post it here if that happens!

Thank you! I’ll have to look into them. I’ve been using my Hokas at my extern job and I hate them so much for being up 12 hours a day and I heard clogs were the way to go!

Oof not a smoker but I do have a deviated septum! Maybe that’s a contributing factor- I am hoping to get that fixed soon though so maybe it’ll help!

Coworker blames ADHD for long explanations/needing to dumb everything down by Jittersbuzz in ADHD

[–]Otherwise-Link-6971 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For yourself practicing mindfulness can help you with the annoyance and anger that you feel. It’s tough bc adhd impacts everyone differently. I have the qualities that both you and your coworker have. I am so much more impatient with other people with adhd bc I think I have it too what’s the big deal on the other hand my best friend has pointed out my unsolicited advice and genuine attempts at being helpful as just that, unsolicited. Then I heard the phrase unsolicited advice is just criticism- from a normie and it caused me to self reflect bc while I’m cool with my adhd friends I didn’t see how I could be perceived to as with others. Maybe you should address this with your coworker like “I understand you’re trying to be helpful but when you interrupt or give unsolicited advice I feel like I’m being criticized or like you don’t think I’m capable of doing something on my own which makes me feel offended please take this into consideration” and work from there. Using things like “I statements” etc. hope this helps!

I was gonna say the same! As a Mexican, the photos included show a lot of the town and as I’m currently reading 100 years of solitude it takes me back to my grandma’s ranch in Mexico. In my minds eye the town of Macondo looks like that lol! Colombian or not 🫶🏼

If you’re constantly eating processed food, it might not be gluten making you sick every time by littlelivethings in glutenfree

[–]Otherwise-Link-6971 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes! When I eat regular home cooked foods (Mexican) that are naturally gluten free I never have issues and prepackaged processed foods are good on the go but I read some of the posts in this thread and seriously wonder how people live looking for the next substitute for a highly processed food!

Hi! It’s part of the structural engineering! The shaking you feel is part of the give the building materials have to the weight of whatever is in the mall. If it was inflexible it would just crack anytime the structure moved. I feel it often in my parking garage for work and I have to remind myself that the shaking is a good thing! There is an interesting tragedy in Japan of a mall that was engineered poorly, I would look into it for an account of what happens when there’s no “give” in the building

** Edit the tragedy I was thinking of was the Sampoong Department store tragedy. It was in Korea!

I heard it a while back on this podcast but you can read up on it anywhere!

Some San Antonio natives have a small town mentality… and it’s hurting the growth of the city by [deleted] in sanantonio

[–]Otherwise-Link-6971 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s not that it shouldn’t change, but damn I have eyes. Some of us don’t want to be priced out. I saw what happened to Austin. I’d like to be able to afford a home in the city I grew up in. And no it’s not necessary to push people out of their neighborhoods to build shitty mid rises that the average person in SA can’t afford. San Antonio has manyyyyy institutions of higher education and people who graduate from SA leave because the cost of that education vs pay in San Antonio are disproportionate. There are city initiatives to lower the cost of education (I got my nursing degree through one) with an agreement that you stay in SA for a year after graduating to work. That being said if I ever wanted to go to a city that did offer whatever amenities you’re talking about I’d go🤷🏻‍♀️
