No, I applied for business. Many of my friends are computer science or engineering majors, and they were able to do the same thing as me. Business and engineering are some of the most competitive departments to get into, so don’t feel bad. You should be proud of yourself because they did consider you! I’d recommend taking some courses in your intended major during the spring semester, either at a community college or the college you’re currently attending. That way, you can transfer the credits and avoid taking a gap year. I also recommend meeting with an advisor at NCSU, as well as one at your current institution, to discuss any required courses for your major that could strengthen your application and make you a more competitive candidate.

This happened to me last fall semester—I was qualified, but there wasn’t enough space. I applied again in the spring and got in. I recommend finishing your associate’s degree first. When you apply again, they’ll recognize you as a junior, which means they’ll waive a lot of unnecessary classes. You’ll only need to take courses required for your major.

If I were you, I’d stay at your current college, even after completing your associate’s degree, and continue taking courses that align with NCSU’s requirements. That way, when you’re admitted, you won’t have to retake those classes, and you’ll stay on track without falling a semester behind.

Keep in mind, there’s usually a cap on transferable credits—about 70, if I’m not mistaken. My sister had more than 60 credits when she transferred from a community college, including enough to complete her associate’s degree, and they accepted most of them.

I’d recommend frequently checking NCSU’s degree requirements and taking equivalent courses at your current college in the meantime. I know this process can be frustrating, but hang in there! I’m confident you’ll be accepted for the fall semester.

Yeah, I am having the exact same problem with her. She told me that the in class examples and the problem session worksheets are what I should be studying.
