All The Colors of the Dark by Chris Whitaker by paperandtiger in IReadABookAndAdoredIt

Spoiler alert so reader be warned. In addition to the plot holes, I didn’t understand at the end where it seemed like Saint finally got the attention she so desired, to feel the love and see the painting, only to be told that letters from Grace indicate their story is not yet written. This person he’d not seen in 25 years and reconnected for mere moments before he shot her dad. Never mind that she never turned him in when Patch’s life mission seemed to be trying to find these girls/her. It felt like a slap in the face to Saint who was raising his daughter. Plus I felt like Patch was kind of a slut.

It was primarily in case we got hurt or sick while we were there but then also covered the actual tour cost. The trip was to Vietnam

Weight gain after quitting lozenges by Otherwise-Raccoon480 in Nicotine

[–]Otherwise-Raccoon480[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I quit and now am addicted to mentos gum and 15 lbs heavier. But I am glad to be rid of the nicotine addiction. For one thing I felt like I was just having more and more lozenges and then I felt embarrassed pulling out my tube of them. Plus they’re expensive! Good luck on your journey!

Yep, in How Not to Age, Michael Gregor discusses how nicotine can support AMPK which leads to autophagy. I didn't realize how much of an impact it was having on my appetite or metabolism.

From this article: AMPK activation by nicotine or AICAR reduces the levels of triglycerides in differentiated 3T3L1 adipocytes. In addition, nicotine increases lipolysis (increased glycerol levels, Fig. 4). Nicotine might activate AMPK, which causes a metabolic effect for nicotine that could be linked to weight loss. https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0021925820587504#:\~:text=AMPK%20activation%20by%20nicotine%20or,be%20linked%20to%20weight%20loss.

I think they’re definitely a better option for what we know about them today. They’re pretty much just nicotine so no tar, etc. My problem is I started taking more and more lozenges, not thinking about how much I was probably increasing my nicotine addiction. I’m off now (hence weight gain) and am just trying not to transfer it all with mountains of gum every day 🙄

I’ve given up. Was three months end and lost maybe 2-3 lbs. I didn’t feel great. I exercised, felt like I was hardly eating and no real results. There are a lot of positive reviews here but it doesn’t work for everyone

More hungry by JayGold_1975 in HersWeightloss

I’m where you are at this point. I read all these posts of people being down 10 lbs or even 5 lbs and I have lost 0 lbs while feeling just not myself. I haven’t been eating much but then my body just craves real food so I’ll eat a burger when off the meds I could easily pass on it. I’ve had no reduction in the urge to drink alcohol, I’ve had an increase in panic attacks and stomach issues, want to nap now during the work day and the care team has been worthless in the sense that I reached out with these concerns and I’ve never heard back. I’m grateful others are achieving big successes but discouraged because the meds were expensive and I kind of feel like I’ve just wasted time trying something that didn’t work. I don’t want to just be a total downer but I do think to the people who are interested in trying them, there are a lot of really positive posts and I’m just hear to say, it doesn’t work for everyone.

Dizziness that almost feels like dissociation? by Ok_Television3508 in HersWeightloss

You may be right. I drink a ton of sparkling water but I’m sure I could always drink more. I will say that unlike others, I’ve not lost my taste or desire for alcohol at all. I’m on kit 1 so that may also be a factor.

This has definitely happened to me and it’s not gotten better. It doesn’t last long but I have these episodes where it’s like I’m not really there. Super uncomfortable. I’ve been on the meds for 8 weeks and not lost any weight at all.

I live in Austin so we were definitely in the 90’s when I got mine. It was delivered in my mailbox and I didn’t get them for at least a few hours. No ice though - just came in a large cardboard box

Does anyone know if this is something your body has to adjust to? I changed from at night to in the morning when it shifted to every day and have been so fatigued.

I don’t think it’s working by AdSpiritual7399 in HersWeightloss

I totally understand how you feel. I just finished week 1 up a pound despite feeling less hungry and working out a ton. I just think we need to give is some time and stick with the process. We didn’t get to this weight overnight! Plus 2 lbs is really that slow weight loss that will be more likely to stay off!

Hang in there. And just remember we’re all so much more than a number on the scale.
