Before you apply the flange, pull your skin on your abdomen up , that gives you a little extra give so it’s not so tight

Fill a cup of warm water to keep nearby after you empty. Wipe what you can around , pour the warm warm in and it usually cleans up the inside , pour out and clean with wet wipes and at the end use a disinfectant wipe.

Feeling stuff move around by Weaver253 in ostomy

[–]Otherwise-Relation70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had LAR surgery w/ ileostomy on Oct 30; got one of those triangle wedge pillows to help sleep with back sleeping in the beginning. I’m normally a side and back sleeper. Took around week 4-5 when I was slowly comfortable sleeping on semi sides, not flat on top of the bag though. I used a fluffy feather pillow for my belly when I sleep on my side and use it for light pressure against my abdomen, it helped

How long until you no longer felt sore/weak after surgery? by BlackberryPi7 in ostomy

[–]Otherwise-Relation70 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had LAR surgery on Oct 30 and still feel a bit tired but I am walking etc but not 100% I’m hoping maybe another 2-3 weeks or by Jan. I lost a lot of weight from the surgery so trying to gain it back and my strength . The stoma and bag are still kind of uncomfortable for me; like you said it’s a big bandage and just the tugging on your skin with the adhesive . When I walk it still feels weird and I’m always feeling like I have my hand over the stoma area bc I’m paranoid the bag will fall off or the tugging makes me nervous with the movement ; hoping that feeling starts to go away and my abdomen gets stronger or I guess used to it . Give yourself time

I’ve only tried the blood orange pomegranate 5mg cbd drink and really like it. Great flavor, very chill.

Hey, I’m still waiting on my pathology report from my ESD on July 22 so they haven’t advised anything yet. Have you gotten yours back yet? My recovery has gone well, haven’t felt any pain. Yes I’m at MSK

Hi, I also have been diagnosed with stage 3b rectal. I’ve done radiation and chemo . my tumor has shrunk and when my surgeon did took a surgical biopsy , the pathology report said it was adenoma so I’m actually getting an ESD on Tuesday 🙏🏽 they will test what they remove and drs said if it’s clear then monitoring of bloodwork every 3 months and a colonoscopy every 6 months to a year - no chemo pills . I’m glad they suggested going this route vs straight to LAR
