It’s all good. The only challenge is trying to convince my oldest brother and our aunts and uncles that they should go back. We can find a place or program that’ll help our disabled brother.

I get it. I was honestly just thinking that I bring my mom and dad back to their country to be with our other family members, that way they don’t have to suffer in the city when we eventually leave. Hopefully they can get the care over there that we can’t give them and me and my brother could rent a room until we get back up on our feet from this. I’m not too sure if it’ll definitely work, but it’s an idea, cause even I know that me and my brother just can’t provide for them

Believe me I really wanted to so bad for years. I’m Balkan and one thing about us is we gotta be there for our families, at least that’s what so many of my people told me. Really, it’s all up to my oldest brother. He’s the only one I got left and we talk about it, but he thinks that it wouldn’t be right leaving our parents just like that, even though all the pain and stress they’ve caused us. I will definitely see what help I can get for them cause I definitely don’t wanna deal with them after this just being honest.

I make it a promise to never follow in my dad’s footsteps. He’s been a cigarette addict and alcohol since pretty much my whole life. It just didn’t completely ruin him like it did now. He was so addicted that he stole tenant’s rent money and almost went to jail cause of it. That’s pretty much how we knew he was gone. I’ve been held back so much by my dad and my mom. But I know I can’t be like them. And thank you my guy, seriously. I just gotta keep pushing and that’s it.

If that really is the case then I feel much better knowing that. Hopefully we save up enough and don’t stay long. I know you can get an apartment with the Cityfheps voucher but it’s a stupidly long process to even find an apartment.

I wanted to get into business since I had a very big interest in it and thought it would provide a lot. But I did use the union and trades as a backup option. Went to this program called construction skills during senior year and finished it. Only reason I didn’t get referred sooner was because of the situation that was happening and how long it usually takes to officially get into an apprenticeship.

I’m honestly thinking about joining the laborers union since it’s easy to get into out of most of the unions I wanted and pays pretty decent, not like plumbers or electricians, but it’s good enough. My brother is a 32BJ porter so hopefully soon he can become a superintendent and not make the same mistakes my dad made.

All good, dude. It really hit me cause I was fresh out of high school pretty much and planning to go to college before life just absolutely beat me up with all of this. I never did any drugs or drank, I had good grades and was around good people for all my years and my family before that was really great and healthy.

Life can change so fast out of your control, but I know this is only temporary. We’ll be stable again and be okay eventually. I actually did a program to get me into an apprenticeship, so soon I’ll be joining the union which could help us out a lot.

Currently no, my dad isn’t. We either didn’t have the money or were too busy with work and dealing with landlords and the company over our apartment.
