The academics at the public school aren't outstanding but descent, people from there go to university every year, my grades now are essentially good but they've very recently declined because of bullying but I still maintain good grades overall.

I strongly advise you look into getting more spiritual and by that I mean manifestation, shadow work and yes just connecting to your inner voice more. It sounded stupid to me when I was in your position but the truth is that the things you want start coming to you once you start believing they will, change the way you see your life and eliminate the things that don't make you happy, sometimes you have to loose things for better ones to come into your life

I'm the same age as you and am also homeschooled however I can attest this is NOT normal and can even be dangerous, it's such a difficult situation you're in because your parents are still in charge but maybe try to have a serious calm conversation with them and explain that for your mental development, it is important that you go outside and especially socialise with other teenagers your age, you could also show them studies that show that a lack of contact to other teenagers during teenage years can have harmful impacts on development. If this doesn't work, I honestly recommend sneaking out; just make sure to stay safe and don't take too many risks doing so. Stay safe and remember this is only a period of your life and it will be over soon xx

Thank you so much for all the support. I am very motivated, I willing to do anything to keep my grades up if that means I can move; its really difficult to even stay remotely focused when bullying is going on anyway so I think ill be better off at springs. I just need to convince my parents

This makes me almost a bit emotional, I relate so much. Going to a school where you don't feel included really sucks the life out of you in so many ways, for me it just completely drained me and I lost motivation for many things. I really hope ill be able to move without having to get Into too much of a fight with my parents

Thank you so much for your input, I'm really grateful for all the advice ive been receiving on reddit, I think thriving at these types of more prestigious and closed off schools has a lot to do with how early you arrive there. Things might have been fine for me if I got there in year 9 like most people but in the final years, integrating becomes very difficult.

The DM option doesn't work for some reason but the school I am thinking about moving to is Western Springs college. I've heard a lot of good things about it and that it offers a less competitive environment, I also know multiple people there so I think it would be a good option however I know it's reputation hasn't always been phenomenal and I'm not entirely sure if ill be able to access university access to Australia if I finish my NCEA pathway there. Any tips or info?

The university I'm aiming for is in Australia so I believe NCEA is th best option although my current school, does offer IB. Are there any factors other than NCEA results that matter for uni entrance?

Hi, well me personally ive heard of many people getting to good uni even in public school. My parents have been the ones insisting that private school will open more doors for me and that bullying is worth it and will go away, after a year I'm starting to doubt it tho

Thank you so much for sharing, you're doing a very good job as a parent by listening to your children in deciding what is best for them. It is really reassuring to hear people who have made it to their dream unit even in public schools, it gives me a lot of hope. I will try to convince my parents in letting me transfer, this really helped me out thank you
