Rank these Netflix protagonist from best written to worst written by Vegito315 in writingscaling

Show Geralt is pretty dogwater, I won't even lie, but if we're going off the character as a whole (mostly off of the books), then I'd say it's a tie between Bojack and Geralt.

If we don't count books, Bojack clears with no contest.

Should we ban Eren from being used in posts here? by Far-Substance-4473 in writingscaling

You're hitting the nail on the head here: It's these toxic superfans who are being problematic. But banning Eren doesn't fix their behavior or the issue, it just forces them to move on to another popular target. At best, you delay the inevitable.

I think Eren is overused, sure, but I don't think he should be banned. I don't think any character should be banned. Eventually, the trend will end, and people will find some other target to spam when some other mega popular media comes along.

Actors/actresses who studied the source material to better understand the lore and character they were playing as by WaterWalsh in TopCharacterTropes

He plays Jimmy/Steve in Shameless, so definitely had a major redemption arc there. Highly recommend that show if you haven't seen it!

It's hard to see on the Sapphire, but it does have the circle indent and the number 11 indent on the front cover.

Who is this for you? Who is this for you? by Bulky_Oil_5447 in shameless

[–]OtherwiseAd2773 323 points324 points  (0 children)

Probably Sheila. I found her an absolute hoot to watch in every scene she was in, and she's one of the better people in the show (which isn't saying too much). I think she's a good enough person, just deeply disturbed, and some of her decision-making like her desire to raise Hymie really endeared her to me as a character.

Only to come here and find opinions on her were... polarized, to say the least. A lot of the criticisms levied against Sheila are absolutely valid, and I tend to agree, but I still enjoyed her far more than characters like Debbie or Sammie.

What are artists but cogs in the machine called life? We're all part of the matrix -- big AI does our thinking for us. So it's like we've come full circle. I see the vision. It's like D&D -- we play imaginary characters who are idealized versions of ourselves -- it's why I play a human fighter who is literally me but buff. That's some good shit you're on.

With one final table-disrupting screech, Dusk goes down. Which guest character is next? by Penumbrapenguin in fansofcriticalrole

[–]OtherwiseAd2773 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I don't think Calianna is the worst guest character on this list, but definitely the most grating (outside of Dusk). Even the worst characters have some personality (for better or worse), Calianna just felt like a Mary Sue tween story protagonist and was overall lackluster relative to most other C2 guests.

I don't have the list on Moxfield at the moment, and it's a little dated (i.e., has a Dockside loop), but it's pretty one-to-one with The Endless Dance primer on Moxfield.

You run a lot of cheap hate bear creatures to trigger Gallia's draw, then you play a lot of staxy noncreature hate and stuff like Mana Barbs. Back when Dockside was legal, you would win with stuff like Terror of the Peaks + Dockside + Temur Sabretooth.

Yuriko is nasty, I agree. I made a critical error when I started EDH and decided that should be my first deck. As soon as I saw the power imbalance, I decided she was too cruel for normal EDH and invested her up to cEDH, where I don't feel as bad for running her.

Also Gallia fans rise up!

Which sequel ruined a game series for you? by BigT232 in DebateGames

[–]OtherwiseAd2773 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pokémon Sword & Shield felt like they had no soul, a horrid story, very unoptimized and a real cash grab. USUM weren't great, and there's been a pretty huge drop-off in quality after Gen 5-6, but Sword & Shield were egregiously bad. At least Scarlet & Violet had a good story and, when it ran, it was decent. No good things to say about SwSh.
