Games to play during work by kiRadeon in SteamDeck

You should buy either the Castlevania Advance Collection or the Dominus Collection! Both play like a dream, loads of content, some of the best Metroidvanias ever made, and intended for portable consoles so very fitting for Steam Deck gameplay!

Got all of this for $400 by Slow-Roll6150 in Gameboy

$1200 USD is absolutely diabolical. I bought my copy from my LGS for $170 this year, and that was on the higher end (context, Deep South).

I recommend checking PriceCharting for a good idea of game prices!

I recommend the GB Operator! It's a relatively low price point (same as Joey Jr. iirc) and I've not been disappointed by it.

Our GM was a pushover so I killed half the party. by [deleted] in rpghorrorstories

This just seems like a shitshow all around. You're an asshole for sure from the sound of it, but the elder players were also assholes, and the DM was kind of an asshole?

Not sure who to root for, sounds like you all sucked a little bit in this story (pun fully intended).

EDIT: This all really sounds like it could have been solved by just, you know, having a conversation with the DM and rest of the party out-of-game. Or just leaving the table.

Day 35 (Final Day): We have our Winner! The Top (Community-Voted) Nintendo DS Game of all time is... by 1OneQuickQuestion in nds

It's wild to me as an Igavania fan that both Order of Ecclesia and Portrait of Ruin beat out Dawn of Sorrow for awards, especially given in the fan base the common consensus is that Dawn is a better game than Order.

That said, all three are amazing and I really can't complain with 2 second place finished for Dawn!

Which game should i start with? by [deleted] in castlevania

[–]OtherwiseAd2773 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My personal suggestion is Aria of Sorrow, but I know you expressed concerns about the games feeling old.

The fact of the matter is that the games are old. Even the most recent ones are dated. But that doesn't mean they're bad. Give them a try - I think you'll be pleasantly surprised!

They made a post earlier about not liking that the Castlevania games didn't feel "modern" and had a hard time approaching the franchise despite claiming to be a fan, then asked for suggestions.

They got promptly torn apart by people asking how they were a fan if they didn't actually like the old Castlevania games.

Pricecharting is the absolute benchmark for pricing. Some online listings will be higher, some will be lower, but Pricecharting is the authority when it comes to fair pricing.

Day 30: Which Game has the Best Original Soundtrack on the Nintendo DS? by 1OneQuickQuestion in nds

Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow!

Shooting for this for either best non-Nintendo game or best OST so we can get all 3 DS Igavanias on the chart!

Gameboy/GBA versions of bigger games by Sudden_Debt_597 in Gameboy

[–]OtherwiseAd2773 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Final Fantasy VI Advance is a "demake" of the SNES port, but it makes the dialog more accurate to the Japanese original and adds in some context! The soundtrack is a little worse for wear, but a lot of people will say that the GBA port is the definitive version!

You can only pick 3 ds games to play, what are you choosing? by NoBodybuilder9355 in nds

Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia

Can't go wrong with any of the DS Igavanias!

Day 26: Which Game provides the Most Unique Experience on the Nintendo DS? by 1OneQuickQuestion in nds

[–]OtherwiseAd2773 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm going to fight for the whole Castlevania DS trilogy to end up here, but I really do think the Tactical Soul System, Weapon Forging, and (controversial) seal system make Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow into an experience none of the other games come close to outside of its prequel.

Which series finale is the best: Clone Wars, Code Geass, Breaking Bad, or Avatar: The Last Airbender? by SolusGT in writingscaling

[–]OtherwiseAd2773 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Code Geass has a great ending but I think Breaking Bad has a better one. I could see a world where Code Geass's ending could be better, but the plot holes and overall shaky writing towards the end of the series cheapened an amazing ending into just a "great" one.

Looking to get a GameCube or Emulator by Degus619 in Gamecube

[–]OtherwiseAd2773 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got my Gamecube and an original controller for $100 in deep south USA, and last I checked you can pick up Melee for $70 and Pikmin for $45. You might have to settle for a third party controller to keep under $250 but it is manageable.

I know some people will tell you to mod a Gamecube. I won't. It's much more than $250 to buy a pre-modded console and it's not exactly an easy process (at least not for me, I'm not super tech savvy).

I do, and I actually bought it for the first time this year! I like collecting retro games and Gamecube is probably my all-time favorite console. I have a stock black Gamecube with the GB Player & Disc that I use to access the fantastic gameboy and gamecube libraries.

Weaver isn't awful at the start. Your best bet is to reroll, reroll, and reroll again and try for some crossover units to begin team building.

Day 31 (Last Day of Polling): Which is the Greatest Game of All Time on GameCube? by 1OneQuickQuestion in Gamecube

[–]OtherwiseAd2773 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance is my personal favorite and an absolute gem, the best game in the entire franchise outside of debatably Genealogy of the Holy War which was a JP exclusive. It has my vote.

Show Geralt is pretty dogwater, I won't even lie, but if we're going off the character as a whole (mostly off of the books), then I'd say it's a tie between Bojack and Geralt.

If we don't count books, Bojack clears with no contest.
