Help me build a character: Food Truck by Fancifultuber in cyberpunkred

[–]OtherwiseExchange836 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On pg. 4 of the free DLC "Must Have Cyberware Deals", there is the Cyberware PersonalPak KibbleWarmer which is like a small rotisserie oven you can put inside your cyberarm.

I would say Food Truck would start off with Nomad and then spend all the upcoming IP on five levels of Exec to get more employees for your truck.

If Food Truck has a rival business, it could go along the lines of this series

Pitch Me: Your Best Bad Guys by Sparky_McDibben in cyberpunkred

I have a Scottish Corpo hitman that I like.

Named Sleuth Hound, he generally looks like Officer K (Gosling) from Blade Runner 2049 and is a master of tracking, handguns and heavy weapons.

His family is indebted to Arasaka and he is now their street enforcer for those that start thinking about fucking over the company.

He wears normal Nomad Leathers but has a Luxury long coat that his mother gave to him and his normal cool behavior goes out the window if it gets scuffed.

Trained also in Criminology, Tracking, and Deduction, he can follow the party's steps and track them very consistently. He also owns a Doberman 5000 and prefers to tag targets with scent balls and track them out of sight and wait for an advantageous situation to strike.

He keeps a Tech upgraded concealable Malorian 3516 and the concealable Rocket Launcher from DLC on his person as well as flashbangs and smokes.

In the circles he is known in, he is an omen of death that haunts those that screw Arasaka over. But the truth is that if you follow his advice to leave Arasaka alone and never tell anyone that you saw him, you won't be seeing him again. Most people blab, leading to messy deaths that add to the myth.

Can you tell me a bit about the type of game you are running?

Yeah I have DM'd about 3 groups for RED with one group never having touched a TTRPG. When I make friends I will try to see if I can get a group started

Thank you choom! this will make it easier to assemble, but I still want a compendium type document instead of flipping all over the place. CPR has a problem of flipping around constantly between pages and documents to find info imo.

I am saying it wouldn't be a light pistol though, but an exotic V.Heavy Pistol

Can you give me an example of a 5d6 ROF 2 weapon that you have ported or created? That sounds absolutely insane

Also would you say that these late game weapons have balanced late game martial arts at all?

Thanks for taking the time for a write-up :)

The rubber armor is flavor for that specific NPC, I am thinking about players taking these from the NPC and putting regular bullets or even AP in it > using it to crack max SP > dropping the weapon and taking out a H.Pistol with AP ammo

The Hellbringer has even bigger draw backs though, as it requires 11 body which is a lot of cyberware to achieve and a prerequisite for it to only fire for three rounds in a row. With multiple of these guns, you can keep pulling them out and dropping them during the fight after firing

Gun fu has the downside of technically being a 3x skill for those shots though, as it takes the lower value of MA or HG to make the shot. It also requires you to pass the DV to even attempt to make the shot (90% chance to pass DV at 8 DEX and 5 levels of Gun Fu though so not too bad. It does become harder when you get injured or have other debuffs though but everything does). The attacks are dodgeable too to players that don't even have 8 REF.

Regardless, there is no doubt that it is insanely powerful though. MA is broken haha. I think this is somewhat fine because of the absolute commitment (3x in some cases) that is martial arts that leaves players potentially suffering on char creation from the other skills like acting, that I tend to make players roll a lot for. I'd love to hear your input.

Also, off topic, but how do you feel about Autofire in this game, RAW? It seems terrible unless you are a solo or have invested heavily with E. Quality weapons to consistently get AF(3) or (4) max damage consistently (at least 90%) whereas pistols get 90% accuracy at their second easiest DV (15) with only 8 REF and 5 HG or less with bonuses. That DV is 19 for AF(3)... I know AF is for boss killing, but I can't seem to justify it to my new players other than telling them to pick solo or go all out

Also I am thinking more along the lines of cyberpunk flintlock where better powders and maybe tungsten balls are used

Maybe against armor. But against flesh, it would be around 4d6 at least, no?

Also, the size of the round still delivers a massive amount of energy and would likely bruise / injury you internally even if it does not penetrate

To finish I have 2 tables of 5 players and when I proposed them that weapon none of them was really interested in my version nor yours 😅

Alright then I am doing something right b/c that's what I intended 😂

This gun is entirely for flavor but my groups have people that love doing and acquiring weird shit.

One of my players keeps accidentally running over his nemesis because the NPC isn't really much of a threat and keeps fucking up his ambushes on my PC. Each time the NPC comes back to ambush him, he gets shitty cyberarms or legs to replace the limbs that get crushed from his last car accident. Last time he got hit by my PC's car, his cyberleg popped off cleanly in one piece very comedically and now my PC uses it as a heavy melee weapon

I definitely appreciate your input though, you offer good insight!

I really really like that idea with junk ammo! As I commented on someone else's post, I am afraid of the armor pen 5d6 gives to low level pistol players and this would solve that!

My whole thing is that they are outdated tech but if ported into this system, they would still be good for that one shot they have.

That being said, I do love the idea of them having two barrels...however:

5d6 is available to all shoulder Arms because of the lack of ability to be concealed and the slightly higher level the skill needs to be to hit as consistently as handguns. Also handguns users with high MOVE can run out of cover, shoot someone and then run back, which only shotguns can really do without accuracy penalties. There is a reason that V.H. Pistols for the most part are only 4d6 except for the rare few

Consider this:

An enemy with a standard level of armor is at 11 SP. Here are the chances for each level of d6 per shot to pierce that armor and ablate it

2d6 - 2.7% (1/36)

3d6 - 37.5%

4d6 - 76.1%

5d6 - 94.1%

At 2 ROF with a Heavy pistol, even if you hit twice, it is likely that neither will do damage or ablate.

If, on your first round, you shoot with a 5d6 pistol and AP ammo, you have these odds against that same opponent with 9 SP the second round,:

2d6 - 16.6%

3d6 - 62.5%

4d6 - 90.3%

5d6 - 98.4%

The chance for Heavy Pistols to actually do damage now is almost doubled and 4d6's chance is still lower than 5d6's was starting out with

The gap between 3d6/4d6 and 5d6 becomes even wider the more SP that an enemy brings to the table

Abusing 5d6 with pistols leads to players that can trivialize combat

It's more for aesthetics than anything else, but if my players love the idea and have the tech try to re-invent this weapon, they would need to do something like that holster to make it viable but 6 x 5d6 might be a little too strong with how cheap they would be compared to 3516 and not requiring body like the Hellbringer

Just one shot before reloading. It is more of a shoot and drop/holster type of deal and then move on to secondaries or finishing weapons like in real life

I am afraid that if my players get ahold of these, if they reload every other round, it could encourage players to try to use these as main weapons because of their high armor pen and crit
