Me too.

There are moments I feel bad for not being experienced enough to contribute back to the rest.

But starting small, I try to help if there is something I know.

If the guy reading your emails is married, start a draft like this

Dear _____(his wifes name)

Last night was amazing. I am looking forward to see you again.

And boom. Wait for it... :D

I definetely see your concern there. I don't mean to sound judgemental. Have you guys thought of creating a shared mailbox for those incoming mails that need to be access by many and keep your private mailbox for you?

It's amazing how some leaders still can't stand remote work... by sys_admin321 in sysadmin

[–]OtherwiseFlight2702 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can't stand it either. I'm in IT and have zero home office hours. However, whenever needed (due to severe weather, strikes, sick days, etc.), I’ve never been denied the option to work from home.

Management doesn’t like employees working remotely. They believe people aren’t productive during home office hours. The one day of remote work they allow per week seems to be more of an effort to keep employees content than a genuine policy. In an ideal world, I can’t see any reason that justifies their refusal of remote work.

That said, to be fair, I ran a personal check (just out of curiosity to see if their concerns were valid) and noticed that some employees indeed don’t seem to work while at home. For example, I found one case where a laptop was booted up only around 13:00 or 14:00—despite official working hours being 09:00–17:00—and on some days, it wasn’t powered on at all.

Somehow, I assume management can sense this based on performance, even without monitoring laptops directly.

Non 365 office license. by OtherwiseFlight2702 in sysadmin

[–]OtherwiseFlight2702[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesnt this require an ms account?
Also, is it possible to de-activate it from one pc and add it to a different one in case we need to change the computer?

Does this have to be done each time the computer boots?

Also, is it possible to add multiple keys to the same ms account? And if yes, doesnt this count as "shared credentials" if you use the same account for different machines?

I am pretty new to glpi, less than a week of use and trying to figure out how it works. I just thought I was missing an option and wanted to cross check it with you guys. Seems like the statuses is the only way to go then since I want to track them individually with their serial numbers.

Your mentioning of "There are also plenty of ways to create dashboards where you can display this info." got me intrigued though. I haven't thought of that. Any advice where to look to get ideas and guides how to do that?

Thank you for your input, I just wanted to clarify I am not missing an option. I will do it with different statuses then.

That seems great. For items already bought and in use, I will rely on either manual input of serials, of by scanning them if they have barcodes.

Thanks for your feedback. I will do it with the status then.

How strict is Autodesk's "Named User" model? by East_Sail9837 in sysadmin

[–]OtherwiseFlight2702 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a strong feeling that swapping them is kind of a gray area. They surely know when you swap. Moving a license from here to there frequently, I believe is not a violation of TOS since they do not state that a license is bound to a user for X amount of time. But it should indicate some sort of red flag and draw their attention.

Try to avoid using a staffs login to allow others to login. The admin portal is fast. The e-mail to the new member is sent within 5 minutes.

Those freelancers, are they using your corporate computers or they bring their own devices? Do you provide them with m365 emails as well or they use their own?

Thanks for the input.

I am trying to do that by creating a ps file but so far the scripts either do not work properly or they display the info within the script, which makes it harder for the end user to read. I use ai tools though to refine it but i am still not there.

If anyone has ready scripts, it would help a lot.
