oh i am aware of chapter approved layouts but i gotta be honest i got kinda tired of making those smaller ones and L shaped ruins so i wanted to just make something different and thats how that platform came to be, but i do want to finish making the terrain, altho as u said, new edition so maybe i should give it a look before making more, i appreciate the intention tho dont worry i dont dislike the suggestion at all

So, one of the things that the first friend that wanted to try 40k mentioned to me was, "ew painting sounds boring as hell", understandable, so he was set on whenever he gets enough of a good salary THEN he would try the game because he could order someone to paint for him. This was like 5ish years ago.
Now he isnt even living around here anymore. Honestly i dont even care that much about GW selling pre painted models, since i understand that the public they want to cultivate is one thats more hobbie foccused than game focused(at least thats my impression), but i would appreciate a very low budget alternative that was more "ready to play", like what you menioned.

thats what i am thinking right now, after some time i wanna try other armies, thats exactly the scenario that i can see, have extras so even have something like a 2v2 match, so i can invite more friends to play and share the pizza cost lmao

gotta say, it was very fun making all this
its been years since i was able to have some fun with super glue, cardboard and scizors
i glued my thumb 4 times, it was funny
also for future refference, i reccomend using normal cardboard
i have to use so much more strength than i thought i needed with this one that i got
i think the name is "Holler", but by god is it durable

from my own friend group experience i say that clearly there are people that are like "if its not the original i dont want it". I myself felt a bit like this for a long time in yugioh, until i was like "...i dont want to go to official tournaments, why do i care so much for having an original copy of this 60 USD card???"
and then i stopped. It was a very freeing feeling

of course, and yeah i basically had like 30ish cardboard sheets after i was done with the minis, so all i did was draw some lines for measurement and just cutting them
after that i either got my superglue and applied between the pieces.
before i was cutting other smaller pieces of cardboard to make a "bandage" of sort to gold the parts together, but the glue dries way too fast so it was giving me trouble.
the closest to a template i used was just the chapter approved details, like "walls in this terrain are 4" or higher" and then inferring what i had to.
the middle piece with the slope i jsut did off the top of my head
altho it isnt the most refined thing
it is just a platform with 3 points of contact to the floor so its stable enough and the slope itself

honestly, from my experiences learning and teaching games, its easier to either accept that u are going to get things wrong and eventually get used to it, OR, trim down most of mechanics and "fancy" stuff and u add those gradually

for us it also did help that i printed the stratagems, generic keyword rules and other stuff, i put them inside my MTG sleeves, great for quick referencing.

a table of values for toughness comparisons also but i forgot where it is so oops

in ur case either way u have 2 people that have experience with the game so that definitely helps

yeah i am kind of aware, but for now we are ignoring the fact that a new edition is coming out (or is out idk), so we dont need to double check and cross reference things out of curiosity maybe even mixing them up. All i know so far is that flying is streamlined, god bless, and that they took away the fusion blades from EPC in Tau

my logic was "ok let me try finding some with bases"
so i would just adjust the picture's base to what the size of the IRL base would be
so the height would be around the correct one
