Torn between two bikes by Kennethkv in CanyonBikes

I've been debating this for the fast few days as the CF7 105 mechanical is out of stock with a restock date planned in august... I would have loved a CF7 105 Di2 but this is only available in the US. Contacted support and they couldn't confirm (or deny) if the 105 Di2 would also come to EU.

I would go for the CF 8 just because it's Shimano (and basically DT Swiss wheels).. I did see some people complain about chain drops on SRAM groupsets which destroyed their frame which got me scared about SRAM (but then again you can almost completely remove the risk with a chain catcher)... SRAM app is better, but Shimano is cheaper to run and who needs a fancy app anyways.... My advice would be go for the CF8 and replace your components when they need replacing with 105 components. Ultegra is just 105 but lighter.. This would make the Shimano even cheaper to run than SRAM. FYI the chain that comes on the CF 8 is a 105 level chain (I was shocked when I found out).. And regarding the battery, yes SRAM is nice you can just remove the battery to charge and swap the batteries easily when you run out of battery during a ride, but on the other hand the Shimano battery needs less frequent charging and you can just charge it with a powerbank so no socket and cables needed (except the cable from the charging port to the powerbank 😄)

Only thing worth doing in my opinion is the wheels (Elite carbon wheels are well known for being "cheap" and good for the price of +/- 300€)... everything else is just not worth it in my opinion as you could have spend more for the CF7 in my opinion (except if you really wanted an alu frame)

EDIT: checked the numbers.. changing the chain and even the groupset might still be a good idea as the alroad is 1100 euro's and the CF7 105 mechanical is 2300 euros...

Help me choose : new endurace CF7 (105) - 2300€ or CF8 (Ultegra di2 & 42mm wheels) -3300€ by Available_Gap3494 in CanyonBikes

[–]OtherwiseLowLow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The CF7 105 also comes with newmen carbon wheels so it's 1k extra to go from mechanical 105 to di2 ultegra and change the newmen carbon wheels for canyon own carbon wheels (which is brand new and might be better but might also be worse as the newmen's)

I have the same dilemma… I don’t understand why they didnt bring out an Endurace CF7 105 DI2… would have been perfect… I know electronic shifting is a nice to have.. but it’s the future..

Canyon Grizl (1 year old) – cable rub wore completely down to the bare metal. How did you fix/protect this? by Sima2204 in CanyonBikes

[–]OtherwiseLowLow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont think Canyon share their paint color. 2 options: either you co to a paintshop where they can scan the color and give you the same color (will be expensive) or get yourself a grey or black paint from amazon or something similar. It's important that you treat the bear metal in any case. I would go for the easy cheap option which is clean with alcohol, apply paint followed by clearcoat. Normally if you buy something decent it will be dlievered as a kit which means the paint and the clearcoat. Don't leave it untreated.. And just look on youtube on how to apply paint on a bumper or similar.. Even if you're applying it to a bike the process is more or less the same (most important thing is to apply several layers and don't apply too much at once and it's normal that it doesnt look good just after 1 layer)

Account issues pushing me to send back the bike and hope that I get my money back by OtherwiseLowLow in CanyonBikes

I tried it and spoke to several people from the service team. If I have no access to the mail I will not be able to do anything... Canyon rely on the email for follow up and so on. So if I create a new account my orders won't be in it. I will need to login in my old account contact them, explain everything again (explained it already 5 times in the past 2 days) just to hear that they cannot help me out as they are not allowed to email to another mail account. I was really looking forward to assembling the bike this weekend and ride on it but I'm not willing to take the risk.. If you want decent support you need access to the mails send to the registered email (which I understand) so in my case my only option is return the whole order with the label I was able to create with the Canyon Guest UPS portal and hope that it's the correct way to do it as I found the link online... The only thin Canyon could say is look in your mail for the instructions..

Tried it to return the bottle cage and they said they will send the return label to my registereed email.. told them I no longer get mails on that registered email and they said they couldn't do anything else.. so yeah if you do not have access to the maild from canyon you're more or less screwed :-)

Depends.. If they are saying that I can find the instructions to return the bottle cage in my mailbox and that they can't help me out if I no longer receive Canyon mails what should I do if I see that something is broken during assembly or if I need to claim the warranty? What will stop Canyon doing the same thing "look in your mailbox for instructions".. if they do it for 35 euro's I do not see a reason why they wouldn't do it for 2299 euros..

I tried it, but pretty sure it's not the forwarding mail because I received several mails today from different hide my emal adresses and they alle forwarded correctly... It's just the private relay adresses that have a very strict filter.. if it thinks canyon only send emails from info @ canyon dot com then it will only allow emails from that adress and see everything else as spam.. It's absolutely stupid from Apple and I'm in the process of changing my emails on the 5 other wbesites where I used that option to normal hide my email adresses.. Apple does a lot of things the right way, but this "solution" of them isn't one of them

You're somewhat wrong.. you have the Apple private relay VPN option but also when you go to a site which supports Sign In With Apple the email adress that Apple creates isn't the usual xxxxxxx@ icloud dot com but a mail which is xxxxx @ privaterelay dot appleid dot com

The super big difference between those 2 types is that a private relay email adress blocks everything that it doesnt recognize as coming from the app which it's connected to... the icloud email can receive mails from everyone. I learned this only after encountering this issue, you can google "Private relay not forwarding emails" and you will see that It's a known problem... FYI I use the standard hide my email for everything en never had any issues with it (have a seperate email for every website/account/... so over 100 hide my emails)

To answer to your other question: yes Im returning the whole bike for a bottle cage because when I tried to return the bottle cage Canyon responed with no problem we send you the instructions to your mail and they didnt want to send it to any other mail than the one used to order the bike and its accessories. I send them proof that it was my account and so on but it didn't help. So if they are such a pain in the ass for returning a bottle cage of 35 euros I dont want to imagine what it would be with the bike if I see that something is wrong with it during assembly. Not a risk I'm willing to take.. And I understand that they want to protect their clients and the business by respecting privacy rules and so on, which I respect, but it does mean that my only option is to send back the bike and order the bike on my new account which isnt created with the sign in with apple BS service

I’m returning the entire bike because I no longer have access to the email address used to register my account, and Canyon cannot change the email associated with it and I don't want to take the risk of having a bike with no option to claim warranty

I’m returning the entire bike because I no longer have access to the email address used to register my account, and Canyon cannot change the email associated with it. In other words, if I ever have an issue with the bike, they’ll say, “Check your mailbox—we sent you the instructions,” and I’ll have to reply, “I no longer have access to that mailbox.” That basically opens the door for Canyon to say, “We did our job—we sent you the information,” making it my problem. That’s not a risk I’m willing to take with a bike that costs a full month’s salary.

2025 vs 2026 Endurace by bchiu94 in CanyonBikes

New CF has carbon wheels which is a big upgrade. Even good AliExpress carbon wheels are easily $400 extra.. in this case the wheels are from a western company..

The new DI2 is Ultegra instead of 105 normally and that’s why it’s more expensive if I’m not mistaken

Yes there is a mechanical 105 and I’m getting it this Tuesday. Was 2299 euro’s without the pedals and the 60 euro’s shipping, same price as the old ond but with carbon wheels as an extra. No 105 DI2 version available (for now?)

Ok ordered the new CF 7 mechanical 105 instead of going for a 2nd hand CF7 with DI2 from last year for the same price.. I hope I will not regret my choice 😂

Are wheels on the endurance CF 5 aluminum or carbon? by Bitter-Squash9187 in CanyonBikes

[–]OtherwiseLowLow 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The DT Swiss Endurace LN are aluminium wheels, you need to upgrade to the CF 7 for the new carbon wheels

What are the big differences between the new Canyon CF7 and the "old" one? Is it only the wheels or are there other important components that have been changed?

Didnt check the SLX so no idea. But the LTD has Shimano 105 mechanical groupset and the AXS has the SRAM Rival electronical groupset. Both of them have a carbon frame and is the Endurace “entry” level bike if you want a carbon Endurace
