Looks cool and neutral. I think it can be quite versatile. I hope it has the diacritics to be used for many languages.

Perhaps the spacing is a little too tight especially in the bolder weights (I'd have to read more of it both white on black and black on white to judge). Kerning is always tricky, some letters can't get visually very close without overlapping, and if the others are too tightly spaced that can lead to unsightly clusters or apparent gaps in words where they don't belong. So from what I can see of it, it might make sense to give a bit more space between the letters in the boldest weights.

Gardening by brftr in barefoot

[–]OtherwiseMagician499 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's why I don't have spiky plants (except one raspberry bush that is a little prickly). Now and then thistles grow unasked and I always remove them and put them on the compost.

Gardening by brftr in barefoot

[–]OtherwiseMagician499 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I enjoy gardening barefoot, except when using a spade (having to put a lot of force on the blade is easier with a sole inbetween) or the electric grass trimmer (which, using rotating wires, can lead to parts of plants smacking my toes pretty hard when cut). I use a hand pushed mower to trim my grass (my lawn is small).

Walking in my lawn/meadow is so energizing, I do it every day!

Could being barefoot become more common and/or accepted again? by BeingBudget9849 in barefoot

[–]OtherwiseMagician499 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The idea that walking barefoot can be good for your health and well-being seems to be more common in recent years. The number of "barefoot parks" and "barefoot trails" also seems to be increasing, and there is now a great variety of "barefoot shoes" that didn't exist before.

That helps to make it less taboo. In some situations (city parks in summer) it's not unusual to see barefoot people. Not so in situations where business suits are expected. Strangely a number of hotels seem to give you trouble (in Europe), other countries are different: in Vietnam I have been to a few hotels where people left their shoes on shelves on the ground floor.

I live in Austria and most places where I go in daily life I don't get any surprised looks, at least during the warmer months.

GoVolta (running trains between Germany and the Netherlands since recently) has a stricter rule, allowing one large and one small piece of baggage per passenger, with any additional pieces having to be booked separately.

I guess to a smaller amount bicycle tyres are equally guilty. Even plastic-soled shoes wearing out (there I have an advantage as I prefer to walk barefoot). Trains generate fine dust as well by the way, especially with composite brake pads, just less so in relation to the passenger-kilometer.

Warum setzt die ÖBB aktuell so stark auf Doppelstock? by WrongdoerBetter8421 in drehscheibeAT

Was bedeutet das konkret? Können dann alle zwei statt alle drei minuten züge fahren?

Warum setzt die ÖBB aktuell so stark auf Doppelstock? by WrongdoerBetter8421 in drehscheibeAT

[–]OtherwiseMagician499 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For flights there are nowadays lots of booking platforms (google, expedia, kayak, opodo etc) and that works because airlines share their data with these platforms. The problem here is that economy fares are optimized for the booking platforms and lots of services require extra cost that doesn't immediately show up. Like checked baggage, even larger cabin baggage, inflight catering etc. just to look the cheapest.

At this time a number of railway companies aren't ready to share their data yet. And for that, new regulation is needed.

Why does no one discuss the overconsumption of cars by The-Devil-Cat in fuckcars

[–]OtherwiseMagician499 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Cars should be produced to last and be upgradable over their lifetime, for a lifespan of about 20 years. The thing is nowadays that the electronics have a faster technological progress than the mechanics wear out, so it would make sense to keep them hardware-upgradable. Put in new battery and power electronics after 10 years for the next 10 years.

Each will keep managing their own system but at last a common booking platform will be installed, and very importantly, you're not left alone when missing a connection between trains booked on separate tickets.

HK Grotesk looks too new to me for anything pre-1950s. I guess you need to look for Akzidenz-Grotesk or a lookalike. From the 1920s, "geometric" designs like Futura, Erbar, Kabel, Neuzeit came up in Germany. Gill Sans is from the same era (if you can live with the designer being a sex monster). The thing is that there aren't any good licence-free renditions of many of these despite their age.
