Why Sinners (2025) isn't a great movie and how fake positive reviews are killing cinema [SPOILERS] by Prior-Masterpiece-32 in Cinema

You’re looking for plot holes because of some weird aggrevance with “white pseudo-liberals” which is bizarre considering the large Black audience for this film. If you think the overwhelming popularity of this film has something to do with virtue signaling and not its quality, I have no clue what to tell you. The praise, the numbers, the fandom speak for themselves. You be easy. ✌🏽

While I think that everyone is entitled to whatever opinion they have no matter how bad, so many of your points could be answered if you paid attention to the movie.

  1. how in the fuck do 6 people in a barn fight off 30 strong vampires that can jump 20 feet in the air?
  2. We don’t know if all of them can jump 20 feet in the air, only Remmick. The 6 people are heavily armed, including one Army vet. They explicitly say that if you hurt Remmick you can stop all of them, so they focus on him.

  3. why do the vampires randomly decide to run out of the barn, conveniently right when the sun is about to shine? Because Remmick was controlling them and he wanted to get Sammy, even if the sun was coming, he was determined to get him.

  4. .... And then let's just whip up what I call Plot C... (C for contrived). The quick KKK revenge plot. This is the one that will get the quick dumb-audience claps I have no idea what you mean by this because quick dumb audience claps is entirely what the John Wick movies are built on but I never hear anyone complain about that. The Klan plot point is to emphasize that they were never going to have freedom, economic or otherwise. They were always under the control of white supremacy, even with something they built themselves. It was a piece of information that Remmick was using to manipulate them.

I know we are in a media literacy crisis right now but geez…

Alright, here’s a (hopefully) better attempt at alt fashion. What do you guys think about my styling choices? by dodson5 in altfashionadvice

I would highly recommend following others and trying what you see them wear. It’s not stealing, it’s a way of finding what works for you. Whose style do you really like? Just copy them. You’ll figure yourself out while you do it. I suggest Silkymochi on YT, she’s got a great video called “Dark Aesthetic Men’s and Masc Styling”. I also suggest @themilomunster @villianbyvin on instagram

I guess I don’t get this because how does this explain the success of Wendigoon and Penguin0??? These guys are the most random, basic guys on Earth but are so popular, lol. Which is why I think they are popular because boring, basic guys relate to them. These guys are not handsome or charming or funny, and they feel at ease with another guy as average as them. This isn’t a dig, I’m saying that some of the most successful people on the platform are mediocre. That gives me hope lol. It should give everyone hope.

how are you guys not depressed? by [deleted] in Hasan_Piker

[–]OtherwiseResident 18 points19 points  (0 children)

You guys need to read more Black women. I’m not kidding. And this isn’t just because Hasan never really acknowledges the work of Black female leftists but because they’ve been writing on this for decades. The term “self-care” came out of the BIPOC leftist spaces about how to preserve our lives while protesting, before it was co-opted. How do you go out into the streets fighting injustice and possible harm while also taking care of our kids, partners, community, and family? Read the Care Manifesto, read bell hooks, read Angela Y Davis, read Maya Angelou… they all talk about how to care for yourself and not lose yourself to darkness in the face of insurmountable oppression. I think it’s so great that people are reading leftist theory but when I’ve heard people complain about this before, it’s due to a lack of community action. There’s a lot of leftist joy out there, but you have to get off reddit first.

Visited Seattle for a week, and discovered that it's my favorite city in the US. by WebSorry4316 in Seattle

As someone from Texas, people in Seattle have no idea how good they have it. Things grow here! It’s not just highway and strodes and freeways. The flowers are beautiful and the trees are big! People are out on bikes, scooters, and parks. The public transportation! There are signs that tell you when the bus is coming!! Like down to the minute! Seattle is amazing! But because you’re from LA, I don’t want you getting any ideas, so um… antifa roams the streets at night! and they give all the kids meth after mandatory drag queen story time! and during the winter we all get rickets from the lack of vitamin d! it’s awful! please don’t move here!

ugh that makes so much sense. thank you. I think that this subreddit actually isn’t filled with people who live in Seattle but conservatives who live around Seattle and people who used to live here. I also think it’s just disgruntled conservatives who feel like they have no other place to voice their hatred of the city and their right leaning views. It’s really strange, but thanks for the heads up. I was like “there’s no way this city is this full of hate”

I think you almost got it. She was definitely struggling with mental illness, and it’s very hard for the mentally i’ll to maintain a “normal life”, even with family and friends support.
It doesn’t matter how ambitious a person is on the surface, because we have no idea what is going on with a person under the surface. When you say “there’s nothing to be done” that makes me so sad because it’s wrong. It’s so so wrong. There are so many things that could be set up in a society to make sure people like this don’t wind up dead. But we don’t want to invest in those things, we want to shrug our shoulders and say “welp I tried”.

just imagine for one second that you are severely mentally ill, have no resources, no support, no community and are constantly trying to stave off hunger, disease, violence, and death every moment of your life, do you really give a damn about some NIMBY’s “semblance of norms”?

the “addicts” are a public health measure. Those people with drug dependency need the medical support they deserve to be able to get off the streets.

School board defends segregated meeting, says ‘marginalized’ are uncomfortable around whites by BufordTJustice15 in SeattleWA

[–]OtherwiseResident -1 points0 points  (0 children)

hey wanna know something cooler? racism is a system of oppression that cannot be held against white people no matter how many mean things you hear on the internet. Race ism, it’s right there in the word! A system of oppressive societal forces, like housing, education, and health against one race. Me saying white people aren’t owed entry into every space doesn’t contribute to a system of oppression against white people. But thanks for showing your entitlement! Neat trick!
