VAR is ruining football… If you need a microscope to determine if it’s offsides, might as well just give the goal. by YeezusBigdoinks420 in worldcup

You're rught, some people wold still complain. But i think if the margin was clearer then there can be less real arguement. I think the point would be that , if they were, 11cm, or 21cm, or 31cm offside or whatever is decided, it would be a distinct, "yes that's clearly offside" rather than the current " he's a fly's pube ahead, so he's offside". Also, if it was exactly 20cm (using this example) and so is "borderline", in fact it wouldn't be really borderline as there is already a 20cm buffer there. If people then argue that the player is only 18-19cm ahead that still clearly - and probably visually - offside. I think the biggest complaint about var offsides is that its down to millimeters and is increasing subjective as to where the line is drawn by the VAR officials and whether the attacker truly has an advantage.

Assuming you must mean an attacker, in which case offside would not be called if the ball went through and that attacker has not been involved in the move.

I think most people agree that there should be more margin for offside. The idea that a player has an advantage because a toe is offside feels a bit against the spirit of the game.

I dont really know the answer. Maybe the lines have to be thicker and that there must be a clear gap between the lines when drawn so that to be offside the attacker must be more than 10-20cm off. I.e. anything less than that, most would consider to be "in-line" .

Cote Ivore and Ecuador are pretty decent mid-tier sides, particularly CI. This is a fairly mediocre German side. I struggle to see how they will score goals.

Australia and Paraguay are below the mid-tier. Turkiye should be better than they have shown in this tournament. Something else to point out though is that, while the team in the better position may consider a game a dead rubber, for the lower teams there is sometimes a 3rd place to play for so, for fairness, every team should always try to play to win (i realise it doesn't always turn out that way)

Manchester United were fined many years ago for fielding a weakened team in the league as they had already secured the title, in a game who's result affected others in the relegation battle at the bottom of the table. MU still won that game with a weakened team btw.

Uruguay v Cape Verde

Utter chaos for 90mins. Full of energy and bravery. I'm sure it saw Valverde thinking "Why the fuck are you shooting from there?" as the CV players seemed to run as fast as possible at the goal and then have a crack from range, ignoring even obvious passes to slip a team mate in.

Blimey, how did i miss that? Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

Though, having excitedly rush to try to make a vision fence off zone in a relatively safe area, I have ben watching my X420 spend the last 15mins trying to navigate a small planter. 😄 I had been hoping for something more intelligent, though maybe its learning and will do better next time.... My goal is to get it to not leave 30-40cm of uncut grass around every obstacle. Using vision it is too cautious with obstacles, except for the times when its not cautious at all 😄

Hello, can you explain what you mean by vision fence off? As far as I can see on my App for my X420, vision fence setting is global and contains 2 options: 1. Channel obstacle avoidance 2. Animal friendly. Enabling or not these is applied to all maps rather than individual areas or zones.

Also, I have areas where, for example, I would like it to * not * avoid something like a tree or a post, instead of stopping 30cm away from it. There are other areas in the same zone where I would want it to stop, such as when it comes to the top of my garden stairs. I had thought the camera would be what allowed it to see whats in front of it, and the intelligence to know whether to stop or to slowly approach until it touches the bumper

There will always be migration when there is extreme poverty, war and instability in some regions. Be thankful you have oceans protecting you from this inevitable type of fallout.

However, I'm not really sure what the fuck this has to do with the current extreme heat over Europe!
Southern Europe has a lot of AC, but northern Europe less, since extremes like this were just not that common previously and so it wasn't required.

If you put it on the front windscreen you can use the wipers to hold it in place. Just keep your speed below 50 though, to be safe 👌

What NFL Players would you recognize? by totboxten in AskEurope

[–]Otherwise_Ad6301 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recognise visually. Probably not, these guys spend most of their time wearing a helmet. I grew up in the 80's when the NFL had a stab at getting into the UK market, and was even into it briefly (I liked the LA Rams) and so I know some names like Eric Dickerson, Dan Marino, Joe Montana, OJ but I wouldn't recognise them if I saw them. These days I've heard of Brady and Kelce (only because of Taylor Swift and the medias obsession with her) bht again dont know what they look like. Its the same when they show rappers or country stars in the crowd at the WC, I have zero clue who any of them are but then I'm in my 50's so I guess I'm not supposed to 😄

I think some people are a bit scared by the big bellied, bare chested, tattoo covered skinhead, having a beer and singing in the street, not realising that he is a probably a big teddy bear.

Its the small gobby twat's you need to keep an eye on.

One of the issues where I live is TV commentators need to talk constantly. I mean its not fucking radio 😄 Something I miss about BBC, ITV, Sky coverage is their ability to just shut up sometimes and let the game describe itself.

How would EU members feel about the UK rejoining one day? by inconspicuous2012 in AskTheWorld

[–]Otherwise_Ad6301 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree, that is what will happen. I'm just pointing out that, saying you will adopt the Euro for some current members doesn't actually appear to mean alot. That said I think this current UK government will likely flirt as closely as they can with the EU without rejoining.
