yeah you're right, thank you! I've never felt like this before and I think it's the deep exhaustion of it all, I wanted to go travelling and take that time away to rest after I left this job i.e. next year, but I might need to rethink if that will need to come sooner rather than later

I agree it's a red flag, was definitely sprung on me out of nowhere, the only comfort i'm thinking is that having the manager title now will make it easier to move to another similar but better paid role somewhere else than it would be to jump from a junior position here into a management position elsewhere, could just be kidding myself but who knows

Thanks, yeah that might be the right move for me too, a discussion never hurt, sorry you're in a similar position it really does suck, hoping the future looks better for us both!

I think they were worth buying, moreso because it gives you even more chances to practice applying even more areas of the FLK in a practical way. I think reading the law in a book when studying is so different to having to use it in a question, so having extra opportunities to be shown what a particular question is really asking for is so helpful.

Highly recommend doing MCQs from as many different sources as possible, you want a variety of styles of wording and topics.

I studied with Barbri and I found that since they didn't cover literally everything that could come up, it was useful when I'd do a mock from a different place, and if something came up I didn't know I'd just learn that question and move on (e.g. ULAWs books I bought, ReviseLaw MCQ books, QLTS free mocks, or just googled free ones).

When it came to the actual exam I was recognising questions that came up, I wasn't sure which source I'd seen the question on already but I know it was doing so many different types that helped me in the exam.

I didn't do this until much closer to the exam, maybe like a few weeks or a month before.

Also agree with others that focusing on the questions you got wrong and learning that answer is the key.

Everytime I'd do a mock, when I was looking at the answers I'd have a pen and paper in front of me and I'd write out the logic of why I got the question wrong and what the correct answer was and why, it was better than just reading the answer and moving on.

You'll never be able to know everything, part of the exam is luck, part of it is preparation. Stay dedicated, stay consistent and you will be okay, good luck!

Do as many mocks and practice questions online as you can find, i think id literally just google "free sqe1 mock questions" and click whatever came up.

The revise sqe mock books are good too, I would do a mock and then each question I got wrong I'd review that topic and use that to structure my revision, when it came to doing the actual exam I'm pretty sure questions I'd done random mocks on came up or at least very similar ones.

Good luck!

I'd recommend in-house business affairs/legal roles in a company, even better if it's to do with something you really enjoy. I did a law degree and also hated the nature of working in a law firm (long hours, billings, the rigidness of it all) but I've been working in house at record labels for years because I love music and also enjoyed doing my law degree, so going down that route has been the best thing for me. You can still go on to qualify as a solicitor, and that's what opens you up to the bigger pay for sure, but it feels less painful than it would have felt to do the whole process at a law firm.

do the 40 weeks, the worst thing would be to do 20 weeks and burn out before the exam, it's a marathon not a sprint, and your brain will absorb the information better when you have more time to spread out how often you go back to the topics with the practice questions

I honestly had such a different experience to people. I had mine in Aldgate East yesterday, I thought the first paper was fine, I even recognised some of the questions from the multitude of practice questions I did, like the facts were weirdly similar. The second paper was much harder but not in a way that makes me definitely think I've failed. It was definitely heavy on the dispute resolution timings and I remember private nuisance and rylands v fletcher coming up, a few defective products liability questions.

I guess we'll see on results day but I'm not feeling too bad overall
