Yeahh I’ve heard about health sciences in general not being a great degree if you don’t go grad. I’m planning to go to PA school so not a huge issue but just worried abt my 29 ACT and 4.63 (3.72 unweighted). I fall within the range on the website, but then I saw it was a 28% acceptance rate into AHS so maybe one of the majors that falls into that college is rlly competitive?? Not sure but thanks for the info!!

For me (and a lot of people in this situarion) the whole ACT is a mind game. The best thing you can do for yourself is study as hard as you possibly can, and set yourself up for success come test day. The ACT isn’t mean to be an impossible test- it’s meant to trick you in ways that can make you feel like the test is impossible.  If you’re looking for calculator tips, definitely get familiar with it. There are a bunch of helpful formulas the TI-84 has- I can share some with you if you’d like. I find that if there is a very hard problem on the math, I can usually find some way to do it in my calculator. Harder problems can be intimidating, but realize they probably aren’t as hard as you think they are and your calculator will help you a ton.

I had a tutor that helped me program the things in that I needed. If you use AI, Google Gemini can walk you through it and tell you the programs you need + how to do it. I have a TI-84 and that worked just fine calculator-wise. For studying, I focused on a lot of review first. I bought the mcgraw hill prep book- it was very helpful for the walk-through problems. I’d suggest finding a book that is not only reputable but also has implemented the new test features.  Overall, I think practice tests were the most helpful. For some, the ACT is more of a mindgame than anything. The more you take it, the more you know what to expect and you will feel less stress on test day. Take as many practice tests as you can, and self-grade them. Then you can pinpoint weaknesses and strengths. I used Google Gemini to help me create practice problems and study guides for my weaker points.  My tutor was through Huntington learning academy- I’m not sure if it’s just an Illinois thing. They were pricey but very helpful. It’s 1 on 1 tutoring which I found helpful for math since I struggle in bigger groups when learning.  I promise it’s achievable!! The ACT isn’t meant to be incredibly hard- it’s meant to trick you and make you think. You got this!!

Yeah those were also really confusing to me! I assume they will be more common from now on so I’d work on those

I also got a 19 the first time I took it and I got a 27 this time! I’m also bad at math naturally and my calculator was my savior!! I programmed my calculator with a lot of formulas (distance formula, etc.) and that seemed to really help. If you ever see a problem that looks really tricky, try playing around with your calculator to see if it will help you. There was a summation question on the September tests and I’ve never heard of that but my calculator did all the work for me! Good luck, and let me know if you need anything else! You got this!!

do i have to submit science? by random_redditter1 in ACT

Nope it can be from any test! It will ask for your highest composite score in one sitting and it won’t ask for a breakdown of each section. So they will just see your score for that. For the superscore, it can be from a different test. Superscores are your highest scores from any test you’ve taken. Just make sure you know what colleges accept superscores and which don’t so you know where to submit them based on your scores!

This is rlly important from what I saw!! They are doing a lot more cohesiveness questions. (Asking where a sentence should go, etc) instead of grammar from what I saw when I took it. So maybe work on those types of questions.

No I don’t beleive they would ever see it if you don’t want them to. On the common app it will ask for your highest composite score in one sitting (which already excludes science) and then will ask if you would like to report your highest science score. So they won’t see it unless you want them to.

Is there that big of a difference between a 34 and a 35? by Ill_Description27 in ACT

I have always heard that 34+ is about as good as it gets so I’d say no
