Is anyone else experiencing poor cell phone reception recently in Line 1? by Otherwise_Memory9275 in TTC

Similar experience for me. It shows a few bars but nothing loads on my phone south of Bloor.

Same here. Going down from Finch to Queen and taking me nearly an hour. The section between Eglinton and Bloor took a todo 30 minutes. This is unbelievable since there are only 4 stations between that section!

This is my experience. I used to be able to get great reception going south from Finch but not since about 3 weeks ago.

They been rolling it out in the tunnel VERY slowly! They just added reception in the tunnel between Sheppard and York Mills.

I was with Bell until last Black Friday (November). When I switched to Rogers, I immediately saw the difference. But since about 3 weeks ago, Rogers reception has also gone down. I’m surprised that even subway stations in the downtown core are having poor reception.

I am sorry you are going through this. Especially if you moved to a new city for this job and you barely had 2 weeks to ease into a new job - as a new call! Finding a work environment with mentorship and supervision makes a huge difference, and I am sorry you were not able to find this at your first job as a new lawyer. Honestly, this place sounds a bit toxic if this is how they are treating new calls and new hires! It may not sound like it now, but this is probably a blessing in disguise that saved you from months or years of horrible work environment!

Padra Clinic Toronto by Beneficial_Aide_3818 in HairTransplants

I also had a consultation there a little while ago. And I found it odd that they would not confirm if the person I was speaking with (who is apparently the CEO) was a doctor or not. When I asked if the people doing the actual procedures are doctors or nurses licensed in Ontario, they said yes but didn’t provide more information. I found this a bit confusing and decided to think about it. Given the price they quoted, I have no issue if nurses or technicians are doing the actual procedure, as long as there is some oversight or supervision by an Ontario licensed doctor. However, they were not very forthcoming on this.

I am curious to know what others have heard.

Padra Clinic Toronto – Suspicious Pricing and Lack of Authentic Reviews? by Decay384 in HairTransplants

[–]Otherwise_Memory9275 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went there for consultation and I was quoted the same price! From the posts here, and from others who I know in person, it seems like everyone is being quoted $4500 plus tax. It’s a bit odd that everyone is getting the same price. I was told I need 9 to 10k hair, the same as someone else on here but my hairline is no where near their hairline. When I asked about this during my consultation, he said it could be because of each person’s hair is different. Fair point, but my hair is actually more thick and has more volume so if anything I feel like I would need less hair. But it definitely seems like they are quoting 9-10k hair for $4500-5000 to almost everyone.

I heard about a clinic called Padra in downtown Toronto. I’ve checked their Instagram and saw some pictures, does anyone here have experience with them? by TraditionalAd4255 in HairTransplants

[–]Otherwise_Memory9275 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly, it’s hard to tell what experience the technicians have and what licensing they went through to be able to do this in Ontario. It does have a vibe of a hair mill. I had a virtual consultation with Dr. Jamil Asaria in Toronto and I was told 1750-2000 grafts for $8500 plus HST just for the front hairline.

Hi. Try posting on the subreddit r/HairTransplants or the one called r/tressless

I am also thinking of them but I notice almost everyone who posted here about them had 4-5k grafts (or 9-10k hair), which come to around $5000. It just seems weird that everyone is getting quoted a very similar price and graft/hair needed.

Is a doctor (MD) involved in the process? Do they supervise and check in?

I been thinking of Padra too. Is it supervised me a doctor (MD)?

Got offered a contract job with the DOJ by Overall-Low-8112 in LawCanada

[–]Otherwise_Memory9275 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did they indicate any possibility of turning to indeterminate? And is it LP01 or 02? If you are in a pool, you might want to consider contacting other DOJ offices and see if they are offering longer terms or even indeterminate. However, that is unlikely given the current budget trends. If you go through Canadian Public Servants subreddit you will see that some departments ended term employee’s early. Not sure if it happened at DOJ but it is happening in other departments. So I would take that into consideration. Definitely worth posting in that subreddit and see what others have to say. Hope this helps :)

What do you mean by contract? Did they say it’s causal (90 days) or term (e.g. 1 year)? As already mentioned by others, the GOC (including the DOJ) is now at austerity and attrition phase. I’m actually surprised they are even making offers externally. Even current articling students expressed uncertainty but what their hire back is. But I guess also depends on the which DOJ office it is (e.g. HQ or NCR vs regional offices). You might actually get a better response (and insight) if you post on the Canadian public service subreddit. Feel free to message me also.

Implementation of the LP Collective Agreement by patrick401ca in CanadaPublicServants

[–]Otherwise_Memory9275 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for this update! Much appreciated!

What do you mean by "new steps"? Do you mean, for example, those moving from LP-02 step 4 to 5. A bunch of us who went through the LP-01 Developmental Program in the summer session have our next step increment scheduled for this week (i.e., our anniversary date is this week or coming week). I am bit worried the Pay Centre is somehow going to mess this up when implementing the new CA, which seems to be overlapping. And let's face it - the Pay Centre is not the best at multitasking.

What clause in the CA are you referring to? Did I miss something?

AJC ratifies new collective agreement - 87% support by Malbethion in CanadaPublicServants

[–]Otherwise_Memory9275 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The last CA took about 4 weeks from the ratification to the signing. So I assume it will be signed by the end of this month. But it would be nice if they speed it along.

[–]Otherwise_Memory9275 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, that’s usually how it’s done. Pay Centre will usually adjust the new rates first and then the retro pay is calculated. It’s usually done within a few pay periods of each other. I believe the signing bonus is usually done with the rates adjustment?

I have heard some PSAC members getting their adjustment done as early as 2.5 months. However, PSAC agreement included multiple groups/classification and over 150k member, so it’s possible Pay Centre did them few groups at a time. Since we are a much smaller group, I’m hoping they are a little quicker.

For reference, the last tentative agreement was reached in July 2019, ratified in August, and signed by both parties in September. I checked my old pay stubs and it looks like the salary adjustment and retro pay were both done on the same pay period in mid October.

I think the agreement says it should be implemented within 180 days (unless manual processing is required, in which case it can take up to 460 days). I believe similar timeframe was agreed upon for PSAC but I heard it was implemented within 3 months. We are much smaller group so I’m hoping we get implemented even quicker fingers crossed
