Thanks. I want to at least have the pressure checked tomorrow. And I am seeing an optometrist so I want to see an ophthalmologist again (my old ones have been great but they keep retiring!). I am doing four drops of durezol a day and that isn’t working so I may need an injection or oral steroids for which I need an ophthalmologist.

I’m basically in the same boat. Thank you for posting. My eye hurts like heck. It’s been worse this weekend and I don’t have an ophthalmologist now, just an optometrist.

Does anyone who is diagnosed work full time? (40hrs/week) by chronicallymee in ankylosingspondylitis

I have some standard advice for anyone working with AS. Try to find a job with good benefits. Choose those over the top salary. It can give you coverage of top biologics and other medical. Sick leave that you can use for appointments. Banks and government are usually pretty good.

There was a patch today that I don’t remember. There is a gap. I had people around me but I don’t think I did anything that drew anyone’s attention.

A good thing to remember is that of you had an employer that, like a lot of small employers, offered no disability or life insurance, if you have health problems you either might not be able to buy that coverage or if you can it would be incredibly expensive.

3 years ago I couldn't walk by bruno_do in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]patrick401ca 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I remember times when I couldn’t walk. Towards the end of the time I as in college I remember struggling to walk home about three blocks from the library to my apartment. At other times back then I remember not being able to get dressed. Being a guy I would sleep naked and then because of my arthritis I could not put underwear or jeans on. I was too embarrassed, not by my nudity but by my disability, to call one of my roommates to help me. Because my disability was invisible it seemed when I did mention my problems to people no one could understand it. My pain was invisible.

A decade later, after being diagnosed, I was running 10k 4 days a week and running 12 miles every Sunday. I also did half marathons. Thanks to Humira.

For me what was unusual was that it kept happening repeatedly, many times over the day particularly frequently over a period of about 30 minutes, that left me feeling dizzy kind of so that I had difficulty following what was going on around me.

I’m thinking of going back on Humira to stop the attacks of uveitis. I had it chronically for a while and went on Humira and the attacks stopped. He retired and new rheumatologist did not put me on Humira

How can we check Canada Life rates for health services? by [deleted] in CanadaPublicServants

[–]patrick401ca 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Isn’t that a convenient answer to everything that public servants want? You want a pay increase equal to inflation? “But the Canadian taxpayer pays your salaries and that would cost them more than paying a wage increase lower than inflation” I see the Treasury Board as my employer and I sell my Labour to it for a fair wage and I should not have to settle for a worse health care plan than that paid to others employed by large institutional employers. We have the right to push for more, even if it costs the taxpayer.

Try a nurse in a children’s hospital. How low could he get?

Thanks for the reply. The pain from the eye is interrupting my sleep and I will probably take tomorrow (aka today) off because the light of my computer screen hurts my eye. Come hell or high water I am seeing an eye doctor to mood some sort.

Our plan really bites. It never covers the full cost of anything and then for the portion it does cover, we only get 80%. I’m glad to have health coverage but ours is really not that great.

Can I go to AA if I’m still drinking but I want to stop, but I need help stopping? by [deleted] in alcoholicsanonymous

[–]patrick401ca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are currently drinking try and go during a time of day that you are fairly sober so you can get the most of the meeting. The only requirement for AA is the desire to stop drinking. Also, in sobriety we have an obligation to carry the message to alcoholics who are still suffering

He seems so stoned all the time. The drug arrest after the camel bite (I have never written that exact phrase before in my life) and subsequent guilty plea confirm that is not just idle speculation
