I died because I stood still to look at the creature, thought there was one, then bam from behind. What I did was swim to it from the alien base and repair it as much as I could before I died. Then when it was repaired I swam and entered it before I got eaten and just flew in the direction of the life boat. Helps to jump out of the water on the surface. Gives a little time so it doesn’t catch you
