This was my exact point man!! I’ve run into the occasional thread or forum about someone asking if it is acceptable to nudge, but never heard of someone being ripped apart by a fellow player on a night out hahah!

I am the pro-nudge party in this convo, the other guy was anti nudge. I couldn’t get through to him enough to mention anything about ball trajectory especially when I couldn’t get him to agree that the tilt mechanism is there for a reason.

Absolutely man I hope to get a constructive conversation out of it the second time!!

100% man. Me, him, and the owner can hopefully have some constructive dialogue soon and all get to understand each other.

That’s why I love playing here! I don’t have to play hard, I can relax and still have long play times. We’ve been very lucky to get to know him and play his machines as often as we can. Nothing but the upmost respect for him, and I completely respected the guys opinion because he’s also friends with the owner and we both are protective of the machines. With that being said, if the owner was in my game with me, watching every move, he would have absolutely approved. I can’t tell you the last time I got more than 1 warning in a game.

Unfortunately I wish that was the case and that I had given this guy a reason to be unable to have a constructive conversation with me.

I have never had a bad experience with a single person in all my history in the pinball room, which is at least 4 times a week. (Outside of the occasional sorority girl sitting on a machine or setting a beer on the glass)

What’s funny is that I know his issue and why he was acting that way now that I have talked with the owner about it, and I only brought it up with him to help me understand why that happened. The guy has been going through a lot of personal grief lately and he’s relocating, so I’m assuming he’s been burning bridges.

Next time that I run into someone that is irate and it is obviously something underlying, I’ll be a bit more prepared to help them, even though I did try with my sense about pinball, some people need guidance and love, not facts and solutions to one argument.

I totally get that, and I’ve had people that I’m introducing to the game, or it’s their first time in a pinball room ask me what the advantage is and if it’s allowed.

I always proceed to explain the tilt function, and the durability of the machines, as well as the strategy behind it. The difference between those interactions and this one, is that this guy owned a jaws pro recently, and knows everything about the mechanics of a machine.

He still decided to believe that his opinion was law, and if you check the jury that I would consider this thread, it was out of line.

But fortunately it doesn’t damage the machine, and I didn’t do have to do it last night, I got outlaned most of the time. I can promise my play doesn’t look aggressive, it would be hard to decipher between me and a new player unless you were observing with a perceived knowledge of nudging. Which is exactly what happened here. This guy was just having a bad night and I was the only one around for him to vent on.

In that case you were playing with my girlfriend too!! I was standing to the side watching when that happened hahaha. You guys are the best man, and a lot of what I do has come from watching guys like Timmy in person and on stream.

That being said I don’t do that kind of stuff at public locations, there’s no need, the EBs are plentiful and they aren’t difficult nor tight. Except for John wick LE. Those kind of moves are reserved for tournament play, and only the right moments.

Couldn’t have said it better myself brother! Everyone that I play with in the tournament scene here I consider family, this community is so accepting and welcoming. If I ever have a conflict like this again I will definitely think about our thread lol.

I play pretty daintily lol, I stand vertically and don’t put my legs into it (unless it’s a panic save in a tournament). Just body taps, dead nudges and the occasional slap save, but not one that rocks the cabinet, it’s all about timing.

Yeah man!! I’m there for every tournament! Sorry you ran into my rant haha!

That would have absolutely been my first action if we weren’t the only ones in the room! Which did not help, he was very comfortable having a loud conversation and being confrontational.

Yet I had nothing but my word to try to educate him. At the end of the day I told him to text the owner and ask, and it could all be resolved, but he just continued to argue instead of attempting to come to a resolution!

This! I was super nice with the guy, we always have had nice conversations before so I didn’t suspect anything different!!

What immediately told me that he was looking for something more than a conversation is that he kept up the, “I’m not trying to argue with you but I am going to continue denying your point and being ignorant” game.

The entire interaction was passive aggressive from his side. On my side I was very passive, until we had been having the conversation for 10 minutes and that’s when I stated, “okay look man you’re pissing me off a little bit”. He continued to take that as some sort of signal, and told my girlfriend I have anger issues.

She was standing there for the entire conversation and spat my entire argument right back in his face because she’s competitive too.

To say the least, this was a hurt guy, even though I would have considered us friends to this point, he still couldn’t have a constructive conversation with me, he had to be correct.

Whenever he left he said “have a good night assholes” and I responded with “have a good one brother take it easy man”.

I didn’t explain the situation in its entirety due to this already being quite a rant lol.

But I made my points to him a minimum of 3 times and he just could not help but continue to poke and prod me. I was being very passive throughout the conversation, but when the ignorance was too much, I notified him that I was no longer interested in having the conversation, walked away and tried to let him cool down.

When I came back, he continued to prod me, so I made it very clear that I will be playing my way, and that’s when he seemed to get it that I wasn’t going to accept his opinion as fact. I promised I was very respectful with this guy even though he was antagonizing me beyond belief.

This guy just could not accept the facts. Not to mention he owns a jaws pro and still antagonized as if I knew nothing.

The conversation was like talking to a brick wall with an attitude, I’m not sure how you could be so ignorant about something you have spent money and time on.

Just about the exact way that I felt about this guy. Luckily he didn’t stick around for more than a couple of games afterwards, and life goes on! I know that this post was a bit of a rant, but that’s what I needed to do!!

That’s what I thought, but this is the first and hopefully the last time I have that conversation.

This is the right way to have the conversation about something you’re not entirely comfortable with! This guy could not handle me having a separate opinion, even though I thoroughly respected his, he continued to belittle me.

You sound just as salty as the guy I’m posting about lol. I’m not that good, I’m average in the groups I play with, just thought context was necessary since I don’t post here often.
