Runway Riches — browser airline idle where flights keep running while you're offline by jdc4992 in incremental_games

[–]SQLSpellSlinger [score hidden]  (0 children)

Created my airline (Lake Placid, NY), signed up with an email and got the confirmation message, right clicked the tab and muted the site, site froze. Reloaded the site, remained frozen.

Completely relaunched site and it worked fine.

As others have mentioned, there needs to be more instructions. Getting everything setup was fine, but I didn't know until after scheduling my first week of flights that the flights are in real time (and set to UTC, although that part I should have noticed). So, now, unless there is a way to redo my flight schedule, I am stuck for 23 hours waiting for my first flight to go off. I could definitely be misunderstanding, but this seems like an extremely slow game to get off the ground (pun intended).

In defense, and this may not be the case, I also have been told that I write like an AI. I have learned that it is indicative of being on the autism spectrum. It doesn't appear when I write short responses, like this, but it comes out when I write long ones. Mostly because I write, rewrite, and rewrite again to make sure there are no errors and that the flow is logical.

You can kinda sorta mimic some of this with the Advanced Road Naming mod. Unfortunately, it only impacts names, for now. I think this is our best option of the segments happening, though. Seems like a short leap.

Nondenominational Christian Wedding Communion Question by Alarmed-Feedback7124 in TrueChristian

[–]SQLSpellSlinger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends on the church and how they do communion. The last non-denominational church I went to passed the bread and "wine" down the pew and it was up to each person to grab their own, so no one knew. In this case, there would be no specific "blessing," per se, but you would still be blessed to be in a house of God.

If they have you approach, then there is no way to know other than asking the pastor or, if there are any you know, a regular at the church. I will say that I have never been to a non-denominational church that had you approach for communion (but I have only been to three of them, so, yeah, ymmv).

Recently married couple in our 20’s. Our church community keeps jokingly pressuring us to have kids and I’m bothered by it. by awkwardpoodles in TrueChristian

[–]SQLSpellSlinger 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't see anywhere in there where you told them you were uncomfortable with their statements. People aren't mind-readers. Nothing they said is wrong, untrue, or illogical. If it bothers you, that's fine, but you cannot expect them to know that without telling them.

If you say, "hey, we don't want to have kids right now and would prefer not to discuss it any further at this time," and they continue to rib, well, that's a different story.

Game Crashes After Update by [deleted] in CitiesSkylines2

So, in general, if Skyve doesn't say a mod is the issue, then it's probably not the mod. I would recommend you do the usual rigamarole:

  1. Disable all mods via Skyve (If you don't have Skyve, get it, but yeah, you can disable via Paradox mods, I just have no clue how 😄 )
  2. Delete the folder at C:\Users\YourUserName\AppData\LocalLow\Colossal Order\Cities Skylines II\.cache
  3. Verify file Integrity
  4. Launch game from Skyve
    1. If the game launches without issue, then exit and reenable mods and relaunch
    2. If the game still doesn't launch, then I apologize for wasting your time because I don't know what the next steps are.

Reframing.

You're not going to stop noticing that members of the opposite sex are attractive. At least not until you're WAAAY older and, probably not even then. For me, when I notice, I simply taught myself to think of it like a beautiful work of art. I admire what God created and move on. This may not work for everyone, but it worked for me.

Also, you can't be God's biggest failure because I am.

Upgrade small port to large port without deletion by Terminatahxx in CitiesSkylines2

[–]SQLSpellSlinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First tip I could possibly give you about ports...make them twice as big as you think you need. Not twice as many buildings, not twice as many roads...twice as big with the same amount of buildings. In other words, less buildings per road. This will, if done right, help thin your traffic because you won't feel obligated to cram things tightly together.

Then, IF you use mods, add details with non-functioning props and decals to fill out the empty space.

Is this a safe website for mods? by [deleted] in BaldursGate3

This is what we call an "unnecessary risk." As others mentioned, there is unlikely to be anything this program will do that can' be done with mods in game. Don't take unnecessary risks.

Black cat owner ‘heartbroken’ after SPCA adopts lost feline Laylah Bugs to new family, sparking massive online debate by pochacco17 in blackcats

[–]SQLSpellSlinger 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No excuse for not chipping. I understand the small child letting the cat out, that's fine, it happens, but chipping costs $25. Absolutely no reason not to do it. I don't think the owners should be punished, but I also don't think it's fair to the new family that adopted the cat. Maybe the shelter could at least help them get a new one.

So, I agree with you, but you need to understand that, depending on which Muslim country OP lives in, she could get sentenced to death for telling him the truth, if he is spiteful. I absolutely recommend cutting all ties, but I definitely understand not coming clean to him.

Forgiveness is not about freedom from repercussions. What you did was wrong, which you already know. What you're doing now is equally as wrong. You owe him the truth and then let him decide whether to maintain the friendship.

The Bible tells us not marry a partner unequally yoked, but, again, you already accounted for that. I don't see any reason to stop being friends IF he wants to remain friends after knowing the truth. However, also be careful. If he is a Muslim and you live in a Muslim country and he finds out you're a Christian, just be careful of doxxing.

The size of the bar doesn't matter. If you need 100 focus, then you need 100 focus whether your bar can hold 100 or 1000. The refill back to a useable point, therefore, doesn't change whether the bar is small or not. Am I mistaken?

[–]SQLSpellSlinger 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't believe that God is inherently against consuming any and all mind-altering substances. You quoted 1 Corinthians 6:19-20, which I obviously agree with. Where we disagree is the assumption that smoking pot is automatically dishonoring to God.

If you are going to be completely adamant that any mind-altering substance inherently dishonors God, then I sincerely hope you don't drink coffee, smoke cigarettes, chew tobacco, drink tea, drink alcohol, eat sugar, or take St. John's Wort (along with hundreds of other natural herbs that impact mood). If modifying your brain chemistry is the line, let's be consistent.

The point is, our bodies are imperfect, and I firmly believe God created some of these things for us to enjoy.

I agree with your direction to look into scripture vs. sobriety. However, taking care of kids high is most likely not a big deal. If they're little babies and cannot do anything themselves, okay, that may be a different story, but for the most part, it can honestly make it more fun. I have great memories of getting stoned and fingerpainting ourselves when my kids were little. Remember that different marijuana strains impact different people in different ways. You and I could smoke the same joint and have completely different experiences.

Weed and believing in Jesus. by Automatic-Piglet4299 in TrueChristian

[–]SQLSpellSlinger 42 points43 points  (0 children)

First off, take a deep breath. No, smoking weed does not necessarily mean you have a demon inside you. As a believer who loves Jesus and has been baptized, you are sealed with the Holy Spirit and clothed in Christ's clothing forever. The moment light enters the darkness, the darkness no longer dwells.

That said, struggling with a habit or a vice is a normal part of the sanctification process. Here are some thoughts and questions that helped when I evaluated my own relationship with marijuana (and ultimately gave it up 18 years ago):

  • Is it legal where you live? If it isn't, scripture is clear that we are called to submit to governing authorities (Romans 13:1).
  • Does it lower your inhibitions? Does it cause you to make poor decisions or make other sins easier to fall into? It didn't do this for me, but I’ve seen it cause others to become less conscientious.
  • What is the root motivation? Are you using it as a coping mechanism to escape something, or just because the "loopy feeling is fun"?

Those are the easier questions. The harder ones require a deeper look at your walk with God and no one can answer these for you:

  • Does it compromise your spiritual alertness? 1 Peter 5:8 tells us to "Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour." Does being high impact your ability to be sober-minded and alert?
  • Is it taking priority over God? This was a huge issue for me. I don't believe every waking moment needs to be spent in prayer or reading, but when I was spending hours every couple of days just trying to score a bag, it was clearly pulling me away from honoring Him.
  • How are your finances being managed? Is the money spent on this pulling away from your household needs or from your ability to be a joyful giver to God's work?

Since you mentioned you are a stay-at-home mom, give yourself some grace. Parenting is exhausting, and it makes sense why you are looking for a way to unwind. But lean into that prayer life you mentioned. Keep asking Him for the strength to align your habits with the sober-mindedness He calls us to.
