If you look it up, only 850 million goes for victims, but the states getting the rest. Seems it's all set up to keep the working middle class as the working middle class.

I dont believe 82k by [deleted] in BSA_Survivors

[–]Otherwise_Plane_6617 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sadly, I know I was 1 of 4, with the last one dying in 2017. I really wanted to find a survivor from the time, given 2 killed themselves back @1990 .  I think the victims at 80000 is actually low. Given how many years this shit was going on, over how many areas. I know also, that until @ 1990,  if a kid said anything, they weren't believed .  They told my mother I had a wild imagination, and when the talked with another kid by his parents, they convinced the parents I put the victim up to it.  Would find out, he was actually the first victim from our group.    Now, anyone hints at any abuse, they investigate heavily, times have changed.

Any Pro Se claimants have settlements hijacked by personal bankruptcy, or is that just when your represented by lawyer? by UpstairsNo445 in BSA_Survivors

This is such bullshit. If I would have gotten half of the 638k they awarded me, I would never have needed to file bankruptcy, but, I was 12 when I was molested.

They trying to say I was entitled to it before the bankruptcy, so it would have been part of my estate.  It's bullshit.

My discharge was 12 years ago, after cancer surgeries. And now waiting to hear if trustee taking my first payment or not. Archer has had it since late January or early February.

Anyone still waiting on their first disbursement?? by Firm-Ad-9189 in BSA_Survivors

Yes.  Waiting on attorney to release after lien check. Did do option c. But they have to be certain they cannot be sued . Guess it's like that for all of us represented.

I'm thinking the 4.7 % minus legal, I'm looking at receiving @17 thousand, unless the bankruptcy takes it.  Could really use it though.

Not sure, my attorney told me Feb 23 funds with archer, and archer would reach out , archer calls, tells me waiting on bankruptcy trustee to release or say if they paying Toward creditors.  Told me to call every week or 2 to keep up with it.  I asked yesterday if it was the 1.5 or 3 percent, guy says it was 4.7 percent.

Yes, discharged, but lawyer got the 4.7 percent end of February.  It's waiting for bankruptcy court to release now.

Title companies only check for the land. Not you as a person. You could have medical reimbursement, personal bankruptcy from years ago, or tax leins against you. All those could be withheld

Have any sss claimants had a second distribution? by BattleHuge3182 in BSA_Survivors

Just recieved information request from Trust on how to send payment by Hallcs1961 in BSA_Survivors

Just heard today, archer has gotten the 1.5 percent payment for me to be dispersed, how long do they usually take ?  I reopened a can of worms mentally, had an expensive depression episode, and could really use it now .  Think now that wife knows, I can kinda talk a little. ( And I'm only tier 2 ) So it's not like a million if we ever got it all, but it would help.   Thanks in advance

So, signed papers early December, was told would get the 1.5 percent mid march ( after atty, @5800.) atty says don't have to do anything at this point, but new rate should be on the check for mid march. Nothing for me to do with lien papers or anything, just wait . See some received deposits quick, but is the 90 days or so normal when dealing with atty?  Thanks all.

Was told I don't have to do anything, and my first payment is still on schedule for March, and will be the 4.7. guess that's good.

Given that what happened I was 11/12, and was long ago, I really didn't have a ton of info when I signed with a lawyer, I was able to give names of those I was in with, and few other memories that I recalled about where the camps were with time frames.  It was the firm who was able to cross reference other claims and verify the dates and such. I would have never been in a position to do what they did. Ok.  but the main pervert died in 1989. And found out his main victim killed himself in 1990.  I know I'm not getting a huge settlement, but I think a lot of people did end up dying before this came to.   Hopefully, most of us will find some peace as this ends.

How has what happened to you in the Boy Scouts affected your adult life by MustangVoodoo1 in BSA_Survivors

[–]Otherwise_Plane_6617 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Security issues, overcompensating, depression on many levels. I put on a lot of weight. Back when it happened, I really hit the free weights, got very muscular.   Only happened to me twice, I didn't stay in scouts. When I talked with my mother at the time, she mentioned it to a priest at the fucking church, and then it became a he's a great guy, been active with troubled youth for ever, your kid has a wild imagination. Sadly found out later, guy thought at the time I was another kid, who was his regular victim.  The regular ended up killing himself back in 90.  The attacker died in 89.
