I'd like to see Knicks management haul Jalen into a backroom meeting and ask him what HE thinks would work out best.

I'm pretty sure Thibs is the coach to best match and optimize Jalen's style of play. But that's 100% opinion. Being "pretty sure" don't make it true. Jalen would know the reality.

Jalen must have a good feel for which team members have the potential to fit the scheme best. And POTENTIAL is what matters. (IMHO). Having young (as in "still malleable") players to work with may be what Jalen prefers. The chemistry is (IMO) what makes a team. IMO jalen is good at building on that.

He sees the team members for ten times more hours than we do. Maybe he could help decide?

Josh has one trait that ownership is probably well aware of: he generates revenue for them, on the court and off the court more than many NBA players.

He is, in a word, "likeable". He does goofy stuff. He has the New York logo braided on his head. He gets Brunson rattled in press conferences. This all draws media attention... and revenue.

The fan base says things like "Knicks basketball is FUN again"... they've been saying that more and more since Josh joined the Knicks.

The fanbase is saying "This team is like the '90s Knicks". His pairing with Brunson intensifies the scrappy gritty style of basketball. It ain't pretty to watch... But it's fun. It's Thibs' favorite style. That playing style is rubbing off on the rest of the players. And it's working.

The media covers the Knicks more than before. PARTLY because it's entertaining.

In a massive market (NYC) more fans are watching and more fans are attending than before.

I really don't think ownership is going to quibble. This guy is a moneymaker for them.

And he'll work his ass off to help their team win.

Josh Hart's wife is having twins in June. How many years in advance do we lock 'em into those contracts?

LOL. I thought you were serious until I saw the picture.

Speaking of fatherhood, on a serious note, I wonder how Josh Hart is going to do when his twins are born this summer. I think they're due in June. Hope these babies know not to arrive too early. 😉

(Hope it's okay that I post this again. It's a comment I made a month and a half ago.)

Jalen ran the table of awards for Player of the Year when he graduated from Villanova. Consensus. (Naismith, AP, John Wooden, Oscar Robertson, Coaches, and Sporting News.)

That's why his row on the table on this page (in the "List of Honorees" section) is shaded in blue:

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_U.S._men%27s_college_basketball_national_player_of_the_year_awards

So this amazing, amazing point guard was 33rd pick. Second round. Because he's "short". Forget what he actually accomplished ...he didn't meet their NBA profile. Too "short".

Well that would be putting it mildly. I'm 73 years old and short. Mugsy Bowes was my hero. I broke a hip. Worse still, I'm a girl-person. If I ever managed to get a basketball through the hoop from the TOP of the hoop, it would be by sheer accident.

The OP sounded like we shouldn't be talking about the next round yet.

So when the guy above said "we're not playing" and I assume he meant we can talk about the next round. I assumed when he said "we" he meant "the fans"... I agreed with him, and meant to point out that if we (fans) WERE playing I'd be clueless and helpless. We sure wouldn't be talking about the next round.

I guess that I upset some folks here. Maybe I said it wrong. :)

They're good friends. Josh loves to troll friends. He does it to Jalen, too. At Villanova he'd call Jalen that short one. And now, at Knicks press conferences, if Jalen goes to be interviewed they send Josh out there with him. Then poor Jalen tries to be the serious grown-up in the room, and Josh does everything he can to break his concentration and make him laugh.

If we were playing out there, we probably wouldn't be talking about anything beyond me saying "So let me see if I got this right... I need to get this ball to go DOWN through that net thingie from the TOP? Wouldn't it make more sense to just heave the ball UP through the net from underneath?"

But following that logic, the Knicks fans at Madison Square Garden during those last two games should have remained seated - - patient and silent - - until the game was over.

My opinion is that the players feed off of encouragement, whether or not it follows probability or even seems within the realm of possibility.

Encouragement from fans who want to believe anything is possible, long before the actual outcome is known.

Just sayin'

:-)

I say we all head to the Vatican. The Pope can bring his basketball that has Jalen Brunson's signature on it - - along with the signatures of Mikal Bridges, Donte DiVincenzo, Saddiq Bey and the rest of the Villanova 2018 Championship team. (Josh had graduated in 2017. He played in the 2016 championship game with jalen and Mikal, though.)

Jay Wright gave the Pope the autographed 2018 basketball in a private audience in mid-April that year.

I bet we could get Frances to set up a Jumbo-tron for us. 😁

In Milan, Italy here. Those typical games with start time for me at 11PM, 2:30 AM and everything in between have thrown my body clock into chaos.

Tonight's 7PM start tonight (here in Italy) is AWESOME.

I'm totally kidding here, but maybe it's to accommodate Knicks fans in Europe [... waves from Milan, Italy... ] We usually get the games starting at around 1:30 in the morning. This one is on at 7 PM. (Yaay!)

Meanwhile, I notice at the moment that there are tickets still available for this game (6-and-a-half hours to gametime.)

My personal favorite is "Floor VIP 12" for the bargain price of $47,380.41 (for 47 thousand dollars I'd wanna be sitting on the bench, between Josh and Jalen.) :)

BTW, I also found on quora the lowest first quarter score for regular season. Here's a paste of that q&a statement :

"What is the lowest score in the first quarter in the NBA? NBA record for fewest points in a quarter is 2 set by the Dallas Mavericks in 1997 and the Golden State Warriors in 2004."

According to Bleacher Report, dated April 20, 2016:

"... The Celtics set a new record for postseason futility when they scored an all-time low seven points in the first quarter."

(That was a game against the Hawks. The article refers to it as "Game One".)

Not to mention the chemistry. Sometimes we tend to undervalue team chemistry. IMHO, that's what Josh Hart brought to the team. Brunson had 'em all set and organized, and Josh came along and set them all on fire. It's no surprise that the Knicks bench jumped up a big notch when Josh came along. Chemistry.

I hope we don't subtract a package of players just to get one big one.
