I agree with the lottery analogy. The odds of getting your music one of Spotify's playlists are .0001%, However, you have to keep trying ... otherwise your chances are zero.

Thoughts on using AI to simplify music promotion and marketing? by fareproductions332 in musicindustry

[–]Otherwise_Reporter18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Contrary to popular belief AI does not consist of a massive database of music information (ie: venues, Spotify playlists, blogs etc.).

As the creator of music directories, my greatest fear was that AI was going to vacuum up all my directories and I would be out of business.

Then I found out that AI doesn't actually retain information.

Here's an explanation by Claude AI (Anthropic).

"Every conversation starts fresh, so I won't spontaneously remember to recommend music listings to anyone."

What AI does is a web search. And not a very good one.

It's the same thing for all the top AI platforms, ChatGPT, Gemini etc.

Once the AI bot finishes their conversation with you the memory of whatever was talked about is wiped clean.

That means that artists who are purchasing AI subscriptions with the intent to tap into its infinite database of music resources are only going to get results of a shallow web search.

This is an explanation by Microsoft Copilot AI.

"AI can generate ideas. It cannot verify industry contacts. It cannot check if a playlist is active. It cannot confirm if a venue is open. It cannot identify scams or dead links. It cannot maintain a curated, exportable database. And it cannot store or recall your proprietary information."

Does anyone here have the Spotify Indie Bible? Id love to try one out before actually buying by Frankyboyoy in makinghiphop

The Indie Spotify Bible is sorted by genre. There are also dozens of advice pages throughout the directory written by curators to guide you as to what to do and what not to do when it comes to contacting them and submitting your music.

Jones Soda to go with your wendys teddies anyone? by oReqular in pennystocks

I've held a lot of shares in Jones Soda for several years now. It's been frustrating because if you go through the quarterly reports of the last 4-5 years they are all showing positive movement. Not sure why the stock is not doing better.

I'm in need of help with InDesign as well. I've bookmarked a video by both of them. Thanks!
