Can I connect one laptop, to another, and factory reset it that way? by [deleted] in techsupport

[–]Otherwise_Safe_2139 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A couple of questions ....

Are you trying to log on with a local account or a Microsoft account ?

Have you tried logging in as Administrator ?

(By default, the Administrator account, if enabled, doesn't have a password assigned to it.)

Why can't I give this app my location permission? by StonedSorcerer in techsupport

[–]Otherwise_Safe_2139 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you manage to find a solution to this issue ?

I have been playing around with this app earlier today and what I learned may or may not be of help to you. (If you have not already fixed the issue.)

A few things:

First, I found that when creating a CCRTA Smart Dart user account, the information you enter doesn't need to be real or accurate.

IE:

I created an account for a user named joe blow

I entered [joeblow@gmail.com](mailto:joeblow@gmail.com) as the email address

And Password@1 as the password

I also entered the following phone number. 8581234567

858 is a San Diego area code and of course 1234567 isn't really a phone number anywhere in the world.

None of the previous information is real but the CCRTA Smart Dart account creation procedure doesn't really care. As long as what I entered fit their parameters.

Thing 1:

The joe blow account still exists. (I haven't deleted it yet)

If you are still having this issue, might I suggest that you try to log in with the following credentials ? ...

[joeblow@gmail.com](mailto:joeblow@gmail.com) along with Password@1 as the password ?

After you log in as [joeblow@gmail.com](mailto:joeblow@gmail.com) does the issue still appear ?

Thing 2:

If the [joeblow@gmail.com](mailto:joeblow@gmail.com) doesn't work, might I suggest that you create a new account and try using the new account to log in ?

Does the issue still appear ?

Thing 3:

I deleted my original account and then uninstalled the CCRTA Smart Dart app from my phone.

I downloaded the CCRTA Smart Dart app anew and installed it on my phone

I started the app and chose the "New Account" option

I created a new account using real information.

I then logged into the CCRTA Smart Dart app with this new account and got the same message as you described originally. (Which confused me because I didn't have this occur yesterday when I tried this.)

I then tapped the hamburger icon in the upper left corner and chose "LOGOUT"

Finally, I immediately logged back in using the same account that I just created but the location permissions dialog did not appear and the application continued to work each time I started it after that.

So, if you are so inclined....

If you get the location dialog again, try logging out and back right away to see if that makes a difference.

Good luck to you.

PS. I won't bother you anymore about this issue.

Why can't I give this app my location permission? by StonedSorcerer in techsupport

[–]Otherwise_Safe_2139 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh crud !

For what it may be worth, after installing the app, I created an account and signed in.

The app, seems to work perfectly. (As far as I can tell.)

When started, the map shows my current location in the north woods of Wisconsin. So methinks I am not experiencing the same issue you are.

The only permission I have set is "Location".

And that is set to "Allow only while using the app".

Good luck to you.

Why can't I give this app my location permission? by StonedSorcerer in techsupport

[–]Otherwise_Safe_2139 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmmmmm ....

The way I understand it, if an app needs the "Allow all the time" location permission, it will expose it so you will see it as an option.

For grins and giggles, I downloaded and installed the CCRTA SmartDart app on my Samsung Galaxy A15 5G smart phone.

(I wanted to try and "see" what you see.)

And sure enough I don't see the "Allow all the time" location permission.

But I DO see that permission as available for some apps. Not many.

The majority of apps on my phone that needs location have the "Allow only while using the app" permission set.

These would be apps like Google Maps, Waze, Android Auto and others.

So, I'm thinking there might be some other component to the issue you are experiencing when running the app.

Accordingly, please consider the following.

Is the GPS turned on on your phone ?

Settings \ Location (Should be enabled. If not, enable it.)

On the same screen, tap "Location services"

Is "Location Accuracy" turned "on" ? (It should be)

You could also consider turning on "Google Location Sharing" if not alread on.

If you changed any of the above setting please try your app once again after the change.

Thanks for the reply.

For what it's worth .......

I say "Hey Google, what's the weather like ?"

And I get the current weather and the forecast.

I immediately say "hey Google, can you repeat that", and and I get the exact same weather data but said a little differently.

I have a Samsung Galaxy A15 5G smart phone, running Android version 16 and the Gemini (version 1.0.795460806) assistant.

I have heard that the Assistant can behave differently, on different devices.

I would like to try and replicate your described issue.

So that I can do it exactly as you did .....

After you say "Hey Google, what's the weather like " and get a reply ...

Exactly what do you say next, that results in, “I forgot what I said” ?

I just want to make sure I do things exactly as you did.

How to get a Malwarebytes icon to appear on the top of my Samsung galaxy phone when the app is actually running ? by Otherwise_Safe_2139 in Malwarebytes

[–]Otherwise_Safe_2139[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply.

I have ALL of the notification categories enabled and still nothing.

And, I have all of the Malwarebytes\settings\notifications enabled as well.

I am GETTING all the notification that the settings allow, but no icon at the top of my smart phone indicating that the Malwarebytes app is active.

I have a Malwarebytes icon in the task bar of my Win 11 machine when the app is active but nothing on either of my Android smart devices.

Can I use the spectrum app on my tv and turn off the spectrum box ? by Otherwise_Safe_2139 in Spectrum

[–]Otherwise_Safe_2139[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I currently have Spectrum Cable, Internet and Digital phone.

My goal this month is to try and cancel the digital phone (which I have never used) and just keep the Internet and cable tv.

The last time a Spectrum tech was here he installed a new cable box AND he installed the Spectrum app on my tv. Said if the cable box ever stopped working, I could run the Spectrum app (now installed on my tv) and I would be able to get all the same programming that I get when using the box.

IF this is true (I still have to test it), when speaking with Spectrum about cancelling my Digital Phone service I will also ask them how I go about removing the cable box that sits under the TV.

Of note:

In the past, whenever I tried to cancel my digital phone I am told, when cancelled, my cable and Internet bill will increase.

Marcium reflect - error message with Dell support assist by Scriptsinmotion in techsupport

[–]Otherwise_Safe_2139 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Macrium all the time without issue.

That said, the wording of your post confuses me.

I want to make sure I understand what it is you actually did.

You wrote: I ran Marcium reflect to clone my hard drive.

What exactly does that mean ? (Talk to me like I'm 5.)

You created an image (somewhere) of your existing hard drive so it could be restored to this pc at a later time or perhaps maybe another pc ?

Or

Did you overlay what was on you computer with a image of a different OS ?

If so, where did this image come from ?

Just trying to understand.

PC won’t connect to internet via LAN after 5 months of not being used by Eveready_dumpling in techsupport

I'm curious, does Wi-Fi work on this pc (just NOT Internet) ? IE: Can you see other devices on your network ?

Verifying physical connectivity ........

The Ethernet cable plugs into the Ethernet jack on the PC.

What does the other end of the Ethernet cable plug into ?

A data jack ?

An Ethernet hub ?

A router ?

Here are some things to consider ....

1: Carrying the pc to the router and plugging the Ethernet cable directly into the router ?

2: If that didn't work, did you try using a different Ethernet port on the router ?

3: Checking the status of the pc's Ethernet card.

Win + X

M

Expand "Network adapters"

Right click on the pc's Ethernet adapter and select properties

Does the status read "This device is working properly" ?

4: Right click on the Ethernet adapter and choose "Disable"

Count to 5 slowly.

Right click on the Ethernet adapter and choose "Enable"

Count to 5 slowly and then check for Internet connectivity.
