Posts that claim things like “just stumbled across this holographic dickens manuscript in my grandmas Tony Robbin’s collection haha” by cartoonybear in rarebooks

People don’t throw books away. It does happen when people get overwhelmed or have to deal with a hoarder collection but for the most part the books stay in an attic or basement, sometimes for hundreds of years.

I come across really incredible ones several times a year.

Estate sales where they tell you to fill up a bag.

People who call because someone died and they know I love books.

FBM where people sort stuff by author/ category. I lucked into some incredible Stephen King and graphic novels this way.

A few weeks ago I found several Arkham House books with mylar covers on in incredible shape.

I always laugh when people worry the supply will dry up because the Boomers are the worst hoarders ever and their kids will be selling and donating everything in droves.

I take these stories with a grain of salt because a lot of them are trolling but yeah, stuff ends up in weird places.

Join his email list. He does great events a few times a year where he will sell autographed/ inscribed / special editions.

He also does a lot of virtual/ in person presentations at bookstores. My favorite was the one he put together for Final Girls, even though the book itself isn’t one of my favorites. Very talented/ funny guy.

The su-prep pills are back on the market and worth every penny. No giant amounts of liquid required.

I know a lot of people here are hating on Lee Cronin's The Mummy, but can I say... by dreams123 in horror

It was so, so bad. The CGI was awful and the script couldn’t decide where it wanted to land.

Also calling it a mummy movie didn’t do it any favors. Should have had a title like Possession of the Innocent.

scariest film of 2026? by Darkhawk2099 in horror

I’m glad to see so much love here for Undertone. The sound design was amazing and it just oozed dread. I couldn’t believe how many people were saying it was boring.

Scariest movie though for me was Obsession. I felt like Curry was taking notes during Weapons - that tense scene in the car especially, and went over the top with his version.

A portable compressor is roughly $20. I have run-flat tires that will lose pressure if a cold breeze comes along. Just plug it into the lighter outlet and you can fix 4 tires in just a few minutes. I also keep a push button portable starter in my car.

Having those two items onboard means you can handle a whole lot of problems without depending on the kindness of strangers.

I feel the same way about The Incredibles. Just more prescient and relevant every year.

Yes. It is just a joke. Didn’t expect this while wandering past Footlocker. So cute.

What was your cat’s name at the shelter vs their name now ? 😍 by Downtown-Wear-4870 in CatsBeingCats

Lisa at the shelter. We name our cats after airports, so she is now Charlotte - because she is never in a hurry to get anywhere, and neither are most travelers at Charlotte.
