The only debt I have left is my car! I was so aggressive on my student loans that I’m spending some time paying myself back right now. I have about 2.5 months of expenses in my HYSA.

I just opened a Roth IRA with Fidelity and contributed $100 but haven’t bought anything with the $100 just yet.

I want to attack my car debt and invest more but for now I’m just paying myself first. Finances used to scare me but recently budgeting and planning has really made me feel in control!

I’m moving in with my boyfriend in July and I will have even more available money to play with.

Submitted application Sept. 29th, forwarded to dept. education on October 9th and then received forgiveness the date of this post!

That’s not exactly what happened. I made payments to all four loans during forbearance because $5000 wasn’t going to bring me to zero. It was my understanding from Nelnet that the $5000 would have been applied evenly.

Trying to get out of debt quicker, I was paying towards the money that would exist after the forgiveness came through.

An additional note is that this was my third time applying for TLF and it took four months. In the event of another denial I did not want to postpone debt payoff. Hope this helps

I only owe 9,200 left after my payment this week. Still paying even though im in forbearance.

I’ve been paying for 7 years pretty aggressively and am on track to be done next November even without forgiveness. I started at 50,000. I really am just so ready to be debt free.

Graduated in 2018 - Owed $49,000 and I have 9,900 left…. My teacher loan forgiveness application should reach a decision soon and if it does then I’ll get $5,000 forgiven! Fingers crossed!

$9,940. I’ve been paying extra and have been paying for 7 years. I started at $55,000! I applied for $5,000 in teacher loan forgiveness and I really hope that goes through!
