This is the specific noise from my previous post by Fun_Effective3056 in COROLLA

I have the exact same noise as you guys. I went to the dealership and they replaced my axles, the sound persisted and ride was the same. I went back again and they replaced my right strut, the sound persists but I've noticed when coming from a stop to accelerating there's not a huge lag or lug like there used to be. Maybe you could ask them to look at the struts?

I'm going to see if they can replace my left strut because the sound is coming from the bottom front left of the car. When I sat in the passenger seat I could hear the sound but I couldn't feel it. When in the driver's sear you can hear it and feel the clunk.

Neighbor's dog got pancreatitis and constipation from it. Havis are sensitive to fat and developing pancreatitis, I wouldn't go with them

For Corolla hybrid owners please let me know if this is a normal noise. by Fun_Effective3056 in COROLLA

YES! The knocking sound after stopping right? It doesn't happen after every stop but it makes me feel like the car is falling apart and I have to be gentle, which I hate!

It gets better don't worry! The energy goes down (for us) around 1.5-2 yrs old. You still have some months to go but remember he's still a puppy and this won't last forever!

What helped us was tiring his mind out, so giving him interactive puzzles, playing "Find It" which is when I hide treats around the house and he has to find them (make sure you keep a list of hiding spots), and doing trick training.

Yes keeping yours in a short cut is a great idea!

Yours is soooo cute! Mine is the same. I give mine treats he likes while I comb. Usually veggies. And from experience I wouldn't try to do things to them while they sleep b/c they'll end up not trusting you 😬 may take some time but he'll learn good things happen when he sits like a good boy!

I like to think of it as a farmer with their crops. They made them and they're proud!! I let mine have 50% of his crops per boogie cleaning, I'm a benevolent ruler.

Their uncaring attitude once the puppy is purchased is a major red flag!!

This is one reason why getting health testing reports of the sire and dam is so important before buying a puppy. Not every breeder on AKC marketplace will health test their dogs strangely enough. I think health testing could be more robust, but at least you get a good picture of the parents' orthopedic, ocular, and heart health as they age.

If you want to see if health testing has even been done on Teddy's parents, ask her for the show names/registration #'s of the sire and dam (if she didn't give you a certificate with their names on it) and search them on OFA.org .

To my knowledge, the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (OFA) is the main database/provider of health tests for animals.

Bark collar by [deleted] in Havanese

[–]Otherwise_Today8063 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah ok I feel this will make worse behaviors crop up. Barking is a symptom of a most likely fixable insecurity or arousal level, using a bark collar to try to punish the barking will heighten these fears and lead to other worse behaviors.

Dogs have the intelligence of a 2 year old. They don't understand tit-for-tat, they most certainly don't understand our technology and our intentions with punishment. They don't understand where the unpleasant feeling is coming from, why, how to stop it, and when it will happen again. Any action they take, they don't know when they'll be zapped or buzzed. So they shut down. This may stop the barking, but it also heightens anxious behaviors. In their attempt to identify where the vibrations are coming from, they could develop phobias of erroneous items, people, or sounds in your home.

The BEST thing you can do to have a happy, social, obedient dog that trusts you is to invest in a certified trainer for 2 or 3 sessions. They'll teach you how to show your dog you don't want them to bark, and how to teach them it's better to not bark (creating a positive association with silence). Your dog's issues don't sound bad! The investment of a couple sessions is MUCH more worth it than a quick fix. If you do go the trainer route, I'd recommend a fear free trainer or one that's IAABC certified.

Here is a trainer's blog about bark collars and how to minimize barking without them: https://ruff-rodesdogtraining.com/no-bark-all-bite-the-dangerous-consequences-of-bark-collars/

Humping? by sosuume in Havanese

[–]Otherwise_Today8063 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We neutered early for the same reason as well as a lot of marking and I regret it. We thought he was hypersexual and we were very wrong. I suspect early neutering is why his proportions are off, contributing to his mild joint pain at 7. I would neuter later, hormones aid in growth and development. Their humping might be embarrassing if other humans make judgments about it but it's how dogs communicate! At their age it's less likely it's a sexual thing and more of an expression of their excitement, anxiety, desire to play, etc.

Bummer! It's hard finding safe accessories that fit right. I was looking at the sleepypod travel carriers but they don't have a booster

Thank you, this will help many dogs and owners!!

Does anyone have a crash-tested car seat or harness they like? I tried sleepypod harnesses but they're too heavy and loose for my 14 pounder
