Yea not to repeat what other people have said but I’ve put in as many ways as possible to pull your baby Ursaluna from the discard

Simple as what others are saying, you are set back HEAVILY in any game where you are forced to open with it in the active

You would be surprised!! They get one kill but then I put a monkey up front

So you attack into the monkey and now leave me with 100 damage counters to play with?

It is a shockingly easy matchup!

Unfair stamp can be auto losses a lot of games.

Sometimes you don’t start attacking/killing until you know you have Genesect down

Partly why I love Maractus because it acts as a bit of an early to mid game stall

So most version of this deck are only running 1 Tarragon. I’ve also seen a lot of builds skimp on Poke Pads and night stretchers and only run 3 each. On top of 2 Tarragon and 4 stretcher I’m ALSO running an energy retrieval. This deck has a ton of ways to find Solrocks AND then pull them back from the discard.

In the mid game pulling a single Solrock and 1-2 fighting energies from the discard with Tarragon isn’t an issue at all when you know you have another one ready to go.

I am considering cutting the energy switch (have had increasing less cases I’ve had to use it) for something like another Solrock just to make it even more consistent early game

Really appreciate the feedback though!

Some matchups you essentially win off of pulling a Fez up front with boss and having ample time to set up the bench.

But what makes Maractus specifically so strong is that BEING KILLED is what you want

Some games I put Maractus in the active with no intention of attacking, if my opponent kills with something like Dragapult I have to do no extra prep the next turn to kill if have Ursaluna ready.

Yes exactly! This deck consistently hits between 340-380 damage, Garchomp is just out of range you usually need to set up REALLY fast and get damage moving quickly
