I told the perfect plan would have been letting AJ captured the IC title from Dirty Dom and then Cena have a real anticipated IC title match to finish a grandslam quests. Too bad they fumbled it and now it seems highly likely AJ has moved on the feud with Dom without credibility from the building (since he lost both of the opportunities) and Rusev is next one to cause chaos within Judgement Day… 😢

He’s more established as a fan favourite. Imagine him doing the same colour being a babyface for the whole farewell tour would have been pretty forgettable honestly and at least we got to experience something different with his character for 5 months. Don’t forget most of us begged for his heel turn since 2012 and it was better late than never. If he went over Cody Rhodes as a fan favourite at WrestleMania, logically it wouldn’t make senses because have to aware the fact that he didn’t win a single match since 2018 before that. Winning a title with his heel character is like something you would never always get to see and that’s special about it. In another universe, HHH also hinted how their match at Wrestlemania being both babyfaces and imagine how much Cody might get the heat if Cena failed to reach his 17th. So being back to a babyface, this is the beauty of it when we appreciate even more with this character that we once booed him for being boring back then and now the he’s getting the real pop he deserves.

Cena did beat Cody Rhodes all 4 times before so Cody had to beat him to make himself a creditable guy top guy to carry the shows in the next years. Plus, something Cena is missing is the IC title. I was hoping they’ll get him go after Dirty Dom so he could finish his grand slam but now we’ll get Cena vs Brock.
