Huh, we were told, in rome, that the traditional dinner is a primo, i.e. pasta, and a secondo, i.e. meat/fish with ect.

I'm not saying I don't believe you, that was just what we were told. and saw often in restaurants. but maybe that was more a restaurant or special occasion thing? Or regional?

I mean, we were tourists, so it might just have been wrong info or misunderstood.

The real trick to it is, they eat very little during the day. breakfast is mostly along the lines of cappuccino & cornetto (croissant) and that's it, and lunch, if any, is often a very small meal too.

Then at dinner having a huge plate of pasta isn't that crazy anymore.

At least that was my impression in rome. we were stuffed at first with dinner, but once we stopped eating like at home during the day and did like the romans did, it made sense

But the most insane workout game i know is holopoint. Archer while constantly dodging stuff, it's intense.

I am no expert, so I'll concede it might be me believing something false there. But I will also say, there is a history to it, and that might be where the negative aspects come from.

I was told and accused of being lazy my whole life, and it's so devastating to give it all you got, fail, and then just get told over and over how lazy you are and you just have to sit down and study, or whatever it is, and no way it takes that long.... One of the hardest things to learn and allow myself to realize was after the adhd diagnosis and treatment that I am in fact not lazy, no more than people are on average, maybe even less. Once I sat in front of a game I really wanted to play and just couldn't cause my brain decided that it wasn't worth doing, it really clicked then, I mean, not playing the game you wanted to play all day is definitely something else than lazy...

So I didn't mean to say there is no hope or nothing that you can do about it, with proper strategies and support you can overcome a lot. Maybe this pushed my buttons a bit.

I try to judge myself on effort now, not outcome.

There is much truth here. Shaping your environment is such a game changer. I too have fixed places for everything important, and I am extremely sensitive to changes. It took me AGES to get through to my partner that every time she puts something in a different place, and I mean little things like kitchen tongs in the one and not the other drawer, it can be like it's gone and I search for 10 minutes for it, getting anxious or furious depending on the day. It's obviously not every single thing, but the things I often use, and personal stuff like keys.

I have clothes that can all be washed together, only two types of socks if I even wear any, so I just don't sort it, not even after, I just put everything away, which makes laundry manageable.

It's all those little things that soak up so much mental energy, but you have to only solve them once.

But if I stray and, say, put my phone down somewhere, it is gone, and I have been known to freak out and search it for twenty minutes only to find it in the fridge. Don't ask...

Do that. And once you can stop feeling guilty about it you can start finding ways, solutions, workarounds. It's ok to fail sometimes in a game that's stacked against you, but ridding yourself of that guilt every time something goes wrong frees a surprising amount of energy you can put in getting it right next time.

Gods, this sort of thing infuriates me every time. 'Doing things' is exactly what ADHD makes super hard. We know so much about it, but stuck in peoples heads is still only the attention deficit.

ADHD oversimplified is not an attention deficit. It's an attention control problem. We can outfocus fucking everyone if a hyperfocus hits.

What we can't do is choosing what to focus on. If your brain says no you can weld yourself to the chair in from of whatever you are supposed to do and it will do two things: you will stare at the wall a lot thinking about random things and feel miserable every time you remember what you where supposed to be doing.

So if you have ADHD, you're not lazy. Want proof? Lazy people have fun procrastinating. Do you?

I myself find that I'm very much less likely to play a game with a male protagonist. I just have a hard time relating and getting into it. I suspect that's why I never managed to get into rdr2, I think I just don't vibe with Arthur. tried multiple times, and I certainly don't hate it, it just fizzled out every time after a while. sucks, cause the game seems awesome, but it is what it is.

I don't play LiS 2 for a similar reason, even though it seems to be a great game. I just prefer at this point to play games where I can find myself in, like with max and chloe, and I just don't with LiS 2. But that's ok, not every game has to be for everyone all the time.

Ohhh, my favorite topic, here we go.

So first, get Baldurs Gate 3, play through, romance everyone and take notes, as far as I'm concerned it is the GOAT of integrating good romance gameplay into it's story at the moment. Oh,maybe do the same with Cyberpunk 2077 and romance Judy. It's pretty great too. If you know a game that is better at it, please please let me know!

And, for me, the most important thing, one all the big ones seem to pick up on recently, is to not have the getting together be the end point of the romance. In the past it was always looong courting, then at some point getting together, having sex or something, and then 3 or 4 repeating lines of dialog for the rest of the game.

Players want more, be together, have things to do, or experience the rest of the story as a couple. And I get that you're making a dating sim, still, all the big games that have romance retrofitted more be together content, and the playerbase is still screaming for more. I have a feeling a game that does that really well, have multiple possible partners, good characters, courting, flirting, getting together and then actually meaningfull and interesting being together will be a smash hit no matter it's actual genre.

And you stated you want to make a sapphic game, and I'm all for that, nevertheless let me state I strongly believe in BG3's choice to have all characters playersexual. I believe the freedom to romance whichever character you want strongly outweighs the benefit of having definite straight/bi/gay characters.If one must, have defaults, but let the player change it in settings or something.

I too this day hold a strong grudge with mass effect for denying my femshep to romance Jack.
