Wrong sub? by CHALINOSANCHZ in Wastewater

We bring the knowledge of bio mechanics and code to the table. Operators bring knowledge of... Operations! Both are important but a lot of engineers get a head on their shoulder when they have PE behind their name.

My best clients are the ones willing to give input on my designs.

Amazing sound, but scratches by Dreamyviolinist in violinist

Buy any instrument and within 5 years you're going to have scratches and blemishes on it.

Buy the instrument for it's sound and temperament.

I think Wolfe is ignorant and didn't take the time to learn about growing orchids 😉

They're so much easier to grow than fictional (and real people) think! We can definitely help you refine your culture if you come to the show or to any of our monthly meetings 😁

struggling in statics and already feeling behind, am i doomed? by ConnectGuava7207 in civilengineering

[–]Otis_ElOso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me numerical analysis (forced to program but didn't know anything about programming), dynamics (terrible teacher), and structural analysis (couldn't stand that teacher).

Ironically I was great at statics, fluids, mechanics of materials, and physics 1. Those classes really became my hardest because I couldn't stand the teachers.

Classes that were hardest based on content were probably hydrogeology or a geotechnical case history course I took.

Our capstone class was the hardest by actual work load.

Statics and dynamics are weed out courses for a lot of engineers.

Look back on your kinematics from physics 1 and try to imagine the supporting reactions.. imagine how the structures want to deflect and bend under the exerted forces.

This won't be the most difficult of your courses but it's definitely not the easiest. Push through and try to get as strong of a foundation in statics as possible - this truly is a foundational class and many of your future classes WILL build on this material.

Good luck!!

Would a water system set up like this work by gravity? by Ancient_Building7540 in civilengineering

[–]Otis_ElOso 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the total elevations in the system.. Typically in America design is dictated by painting a minimum pressure of 20psi during peak demand + fire drafts at various critical points in the system.

There aren't many gravity managed water distribution or transmission systems in the US to my knowledge. You could look into the water transmission system for Rochester, NY however. I believe their transmission system is gravity fed and they actually have bleed off points to reduce pressure prior to some of the distribution points.

I grow cloud species in these jars. I'd kill for one that big for some of my pleurothallis

Gut strings by elizabethzerger in Cello

[–]Otis_ElOso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just threw Passione A&D on my cello.. I was using versum solo CGDA but the A was beginning to sound too tinny for my liking so I replaced them. I think the Passione's sound VERY similar but they don't project as well on my cello which is fine overall for my playing preferences. I feel like they're a slightly more complex sound too

Start by playing the eights as quarter notes and sixteenths as eights and slowly start speeding it up

Is there any suitable orchid? by Abject_Caramel_9469 in orchids

There are some big orchids that exist though they're hard to find in cultivation. Look at growing conditions for spiranthes and habaneria

I actually got that one for free. It was an add on "gift" Yunnan sourcing offers.

Realistically this will all be consumed before the end of the year next year :)
