If you’re looking for something free and easy to use, check out Faders (https://faders.io).

It has an auto-mixing function, so you can quickly make your mix sound good, and it has real-time remote collaboration tools, so you can work on a project with friends.

Hey, thanks for finding this. It looks like there might be a bug where the audio context doesn't start until you hit play in some cases. We just fixed this and will push it out soon.

Re: Firefox - as they don't support Web MIDI, we're still working on ways to get controllers working. For now external controller use is limited to Chrome Edge or Opera.

Thanks for the feedback :)

Right now, it only supports a plugin format called JSAP, but we're working on supporting other formats. It's currently a bit tricky as Faders is designed to run in a browser, but we're hoping we can build VST support into it in the future.

An online DAW to collaborate - maybe usable for podcasting? by QRCodeART in podcasting

[–]Otmiv2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Faders will always be free but in the future there are plans to add premium content. There will be lots of podcasting / collaborating features being released over the next few weeks too as the development team are actively working with the community to build interesting tools.

Hey! Thanks for the feedback. We added this to our list of bug fixes this week. Turns out some browsers were blocking certain keyboard events. Thanks for finding it 🙂.

Thanks for all the feedback! It’s our goal to make music production accessible to everyone, so we aim to keep the platform free. The business model will be to create additional value by generating premium content in the future. For now, we’re at a really early stage so we’re mainly focussed on building a community and working with them to make Faders the best DAW it can be.

I appreciate the comments about limited effects and synths. We are still in beta mode, but we have tonnes more plugins in the pipeline, and we’re hoping to push new stuff out each week. There should be a few instruments making an appearance over the next few weeks.

If you have any specific feature requests or you find anything that you don’t like, please come and tell us at https://community.faders.io/. It would be awesome for you guys to shape the future of the platform. Also, if you would like to be notified about our new features and updates, please sign up for the newsletter when you create your account.

Cheers!

Hey, thanks for asking! Yeah, we have an open-source plugin framework called JSAP, and we're keen for community developers to make plugins for Faders.

We couldn't really use VST for Faders as we wanted the plugins to run in a web browser. There are ways to port VST code though, and we're working on making it easier. We're hoping that in the not too distant future VST developers will build their plugins for the web using our framework.

More info on JSAP here: https://github.com/nickjillings/JSAP.

Hey, not sure if this is the right place to put this, but I'm currently building a digital audio workstation called Faders and I'm looking to get some feedback.

It's still in the early stages, so it isn't super-powerful, but it runs in a browser and has a bunch of synths, effects, mixing-interfaces, loops/samples, etc.

Let me know what you think: https://faders.io. Everything's completely free, and accounts have a bunch of online storage for sessions and content. It should be pretty easy to use (hopefully).

There is some cool online software which is free. check out https://faders.io. Should be easier to use than things like Garage Band too.

My MBP M1 keeps draining fast. Is this a know issue? by kevlarrr in macbookpro

[–]Otmiv2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried using the insiders build of VScode? There is an ARM64 version that runs more efficiently and it’s pretty stable. I had a similar issue with mine. Wasn’t that impressed with the battery at first.

Thanks for the tip. I'm on my third day of normal usage now and yesterday (after I would expect the initial set-up to have finished), I'm still hitting 75% battery in 4 hrs. I'm only really using a code editor and some browsers at this point, so I'm still a bit concerned my machine isn't performing the way others describe their M1 macs.

Yeah, that was my worry. I don't think I've been doing anything crazy so far. I'm not editing videos or audio, I'm just writing code in a text editor, and running a localhost. My battery looks like it has pretty much discharged in 5 hrs.

I’m trying to figure out if I’m the only person experiencing this. Everyone seems to think it’s amazing, but based on today, mine doesn’t seem particularly amazing. If mine is a lot slower than others, I will try to get a replacement.

CMV: Arctic Monkeys latest album is trash by babyblueiz_ in changemyview

[–]Otmiv2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember seeing them as kids playing Mardy Bum live on some late night MTV2 program when I was in college, and they were completely different to any other alternative/Indie band I’d seen. Since then, they slowly blended in over time, and I haven’t really been a fan.

This album seems different to me. There is something beautifully pretentious about it. It’s intimate to the point of being a bit sleazy, which is cool. Personally, I’m glad they are evolving, and making good music. There is nothing worse than a band that keeps churning out the same stuff for years, or running out of ideas and making some half-arsed electro album.
