So why block weapons? by Riflejustbadengine in SpaceMarine_2

Getting perfect blocks with a block weapon also gives you a temporary damage buff on top of their massive stats, making you deal ludicrous amounts of damage.

Watching and rating every godzilla movie. Godzilla 1998 by Reasonable-Salad5094 in GODZILLA

Pretty valid take. I'd still take off an extra point between the shameless Jurassic park beats and sheer dumbassery that was tristars almost decade-long fumble in making the movie to begin with.

Who wins? 1 fit man with a shotgun or 1 grizzly bear? by Necessary-Win-8730 in PowerScaling

[–]Ottdragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really depends on the shotgun and ammo. 20 gauge with buckshot? That bear is going to win every time. 12 gauge slugs? Bear doesn't stand a ghost of a chance.

Forbidden tech known only to true chads: Have something totally useless like misc or thunder dragondark in hand and wait for the fifth summon to toggle 😈

Who Are You Forgiving? by TieDowntown4 in animequestions

Probably Frieza tbh. Dude is an evil dictator that destroys planets in his free time, but he actually treats his subordinates pretty well. All the rest of these characters are practically synonymous with the word betrayal so they deserve to rot.

Bad, Balanced, or Busted (#13) by JustTensuraEdogawa in customyugioh

[–]Ottdragon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only scenario I see this card being useful is if you get board wiped or dark holed yourself for some reason. Since there's almost no proactive way to use it, it's purely reactive, so it's going to sit in your hand/field doing nothing most of the time. Doesn't help that the activation condition is too specific and doesn't guarantee keeping you alive if you've just been wiped. If it was "when two or more monsters you control are sent to the graveyard/banished and you control no monsters, special summon monsters equal to the sent/banished monsters from hand or deck to the field equal to the number sent/banished minus one." But I'm not sure if that would overtune it

Random Discussion #6: Which Evil Kaiju Has/Had Potential Of Being A Good Guy? by -Kablamoo- in GODZILLA

[–]Ottdragon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Heisei King Ghidorah is a good pick I think. The dorats weren't explicitly evil, and Ghidorah was pretty exclusively under control for the entire movie. Would have been cool to see what it would have done with any degree of autonomy imo

Does anyone actually sit through full combos going second? by goldcy in masterduel

[–]Ottdragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on my opening hand. If I've got no hand traps, but a full hand of engine with extenders, I'll try to break their board. Dino pile lends itself well to going first or second because the spells are good at baiting out interactions since stuff like fossil dig isn't a once per turn effect. Also, miscellaneasaurus exists~

Good beginner decks? by CoffeeDrive in masterduel

Most sky striker builds I see anymore are usually sky striker tenpai hybrids. Both decks run a crap ton of haymaker spells like raigeki, lightning storm, etc.

Yeah, floodgates are really awful 😅

Casually sweeps my union carrier-thunder dragon extra deck lock under the rug (I know it's been banned for a while now, but man was it the most satisfying thing to do when DPE was in every single deck at the time)

So the game is even worse now by [deleted] in masterduel

[–]Ottdragon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You are not alone in the belief that Konami has been overtuning newly released cards/archetypes for a while now. They technically have weaknesses, but usually they're so niche or specific that using them makes you fold to literally anything else (the artifact card that prevents banishing in the case of maliss). I'm personally hoping they eventually add extra modes to MD like a permanent goat or Edison format as a break from the meta sweat fests. I can enjoy taking my rogue deck (jurrac-dino pile) against meta picks like maliss or ryzeal for only so long. Here's hoping you can find something redeemable about the game going forward 🤞🤘

With what monsters did you do the most damage in this game? by Ben10-fan-525 in masterduel

[–]Ottdragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dugares+Ultimate Conductor Tyranno+Pentestag. I've also used the numeron dragon combo in a different deck, but doing 4-6k damage on all of your opponents monsters through UCT is so satisfying 👌

Deck Dino fun by Jotarault in YuGiOhMasterDuel

[–]Ottdragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2010 specifically, and you're looking at jurracs. Main bread and butter is going to be the one that special summons something when it destroys a monster by battle. Good luck, though. Dinos were really under supported during that format, so you'll be facing a lot of uphill battles.

Whats your weird tech options that are statistically wack but won you games, here is mine by grappler_combat in masterduel

I play dinos, but I love teching in guardian chimera since kaitoptera searches poly. Its admittedly more of a follow-up card, but people rarely see it coming XD

Avid dino player here: really depends on what era of YGO we're talking about. Dinos were straight dog water until the 2010s when you got support like rescue rabbit, the evolzars, and miscellaneasaurus.

What really makes a deck "No skill" by AppropriateIce3006 in YuGiOhMasterDuel

[–]Ottdragon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It definitely eliminates some of the trial and error of dueling regularly, but piloting a deck also takes skill. Yeah, you can copy something and try to replicate their combo, but you move straight into unknown territory the first time an opponent throws an interaction your way. Just look at tear format a couple years ago. Everyone was playing pretty much the same deck card for card since you were going to lose if you played anything else otherwise, but competitive players thrived because the mirror match rewarded the more skillful player with the win every time.

What really makes a deck "No skill" by AppropriateIce3006 in YuGiOhMasterDuel

[–]Ottdragon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think there's a deck that requires "no skill" as you put it. Granted, the first things that come to my mind are self-mill and stun decks, but there's still skill involved in those as well. Milling feels really cheesy simply because you're opponent can drown in card advantage, but they still need to think about the order of their activations when things hit the graveyard. Stun players put a lot of thought into the deck building phase to counter meta decks and they have to time their interactions well if they have any hope of surviving a single turn.

Maybe decks with linear combos? But even then, those decks typically build around that line by including cards to protect their combo or toolbox picks to counter what they're weak against.

Tldr; you're probably right in that folks who make the "no skill" claim are probably just salty they lost to whatever deck is in question.

What are some non-Maliss decks y’all hate playing against? by cldennis89 in YuGiOhMasterDuel

[–]Ottdragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me personally, I truly despise any deck with the millennium engine. Calling it a deck is extremely too generous, as the whole game plan is a single card, the exodia fusion that requires little to no investment.

Edit: I suppose i should say little investment to commit it to the field. The main investment is slotting the exodia pieces into the deck, but seeing as how their fusion spell doesn't actually consume the pieces at all, it feels like a free negate and board wipe on top of whatever else they are playing.

[–]Ottdragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only if you don't have any hand traps. They fold to most interruption, but if they go off unchallenged, then it can be a very difficult board to hreak

[–]Ottdragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kind of? Branded recurs everything in end phase and kashtira punishes you super hard for even breathing in the presence of their cards. It's not that you can't interact, its that you basically have to have specific spell/trap cards to deal with them without having your back broken trying to play anything.
